Oops, those answers are now hidden.

That's the answer to the coin riddle.  Too bad I actually don't have coins like that... might be able to do some neat "magic" tricks with them...

About the prisoner riddle... I don't think so, I've never heard of cartalk.  Thanks for not revealing the answer, though- it's usually good for a few pages of guessing... Tongue

How 'bout this one... it's very easy, so y'all don't answer unless you're actually guessing.  Technically, it's not even a riddle, but meh, here goes...

#7: Red-green color blindness is a condition where a person cannot distinguish the colors red and green from each other.  Now, stoplights have both green and red lights.  A red-green color blind person cannot distinguish between these colors, yet they can apply for driver's licenses like everyone else.  Why is this the case?

I'd guess that because the position of traffic lights (red on top, green on bottom) is contant, colour blindness wouldn't be an issue.

As to my riddle, the "umbrella" guess was correct.

That's the right answer, Zeep-Eeep!  I guess that one was a bit simple, though.  I'm curious to see people try #6, though. Grin

As for your riddle, I thought it was "humidity", but that seemed too obvious... Tongue

Here's an old trick question:

#8: Which weighs more, an ounce of feathers or an ounce of gold?

Riddle #8

Maybe when you are five years old it is a tricky one. They weight the same,

Okay, then which weighs more, a fluid ounce of gold or a fluid ounce of water?  (It's that wacky English measurement system again!)

Well, if we are talking about an ouce as in a messurment of weight, then
the gold and feathers weigh the same. If we are taking an ounce as
a messurment of volume, then the gold would weigh more, (assuming equal temperatures) because it is more dense.....like Bio.

Still, that's not true... Grin

To make things even more confusing, I'll add another trick question:

#8b: Which weighs more, a pound of feathers or a pound of gold?

Look in the dictonary for the word "ounce"... Gold weights more :\
A for #8b, they weight the same Grin

Sorry DJ, ounces of feathers and gold do not weigh the same, and neither do pounds of feathers and gold.

I'm not entirely sure from your post, but you might be on the right track, though.

Here are some old one's I've heard over the years.

#9 A man is found naked in  the middle of the desert with only a single piece of straw, what happened?

#10 Romeo and Juliet are found dead in a puddle of water surrounded by shattered glass, what happened?

#11 You are on the border of two countries, the people of one country always lie and the other tell the truth. Asking only one question how do you differeniate?

#9: He broke his camel's back. lol.

#10: They broke the fish tank from the movie, slipped and fell, face first into the puddle?

#11: I think we've had this already. Ask the one person which country
is theirs. Both a true speaking person and a false speaker would point
to the country of truth.

As for the "ounce" question, there are some other theories I'd
like to put forward. An "ounce" can also be defined as a "small amount
of matter" or "an atom of". Using the first, we wouldn't know the answer.
Using the atom approach, I think we could assume the gold atom would
weigh more.
However, if we were in a zero gravity environment, neither would have
any weight. Which would seem appropriate for a UQM forum.

Well, points for creativity, but the ounce & pound questions assume the usual gravity and non-atom masses. Smiley

For Terminator's riddles, I'm not sure, but I think I've heard a version of #9: The man was in some sort of failing aerial vehicle, and the passengers needed to reduce the weight of the aircraft (they got rid of their clothes first, but it wasn't enough).  They drew straws, and the unlucky fellow drew the short one and had to jump.  However, I think that Zeep-Eeep's answer is a better one... Tongue

Never heard of #10, but could it be: Romeo and Juliet were frozen in a glass container?  Glass can shatter when frozen, but the ice has since melted...

#11 we already have a variation of in #3.

ok, ok, enough with the ounce pound thing, lets get back on topic!  Angry

Wink

How about:

#12 (Really cheap one) A plane crashs on the border of two countries. (precisely, by the inch) now, where do they bury the survivors?

(if you know the answer, don't say it aloud Wink )
