Cannot Start Game

Using WinXP


Installed as "Executables Only"
Unzipped the 3 content files (music,content,voice) to  \packages
Downloaded and placed keys.cfg (newest) into \content
uqm.exe crashes with kernel error

The Ur-Quan Masters v0.3 (compiled Sep  5 2003 03:55:46)
This software comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY;

Saved games are kept in C:/Documents and Settings/admin/Application Data/uqm/sav
e/.
Initializing SDL (pure).
SDL driver used: directx
SDL initialized.

Do I have to boot of a DOS floppy or something?

Do not unzip the content files. Place them still zipped in the packages dir. Also, you shouldn't install a keys.cfg file yourself. It will be created in the correct location (which is not "content") the first time the game is run.

The game won't work under pure DOS, so you can forget about using DOS floppies.

i reinstalled and this time left them zipped
works great!
