Like an idiot, early on in the game I flew over to Delta Gorno ore scavenging and killed off the Shofixti ship when it attacked me out of the blue. Since then i've progressed through about 2/3rds of the game, and am now at the point where the Yihat are the next thing on my "to do" list.
Since i've blown up the last remaining shofixti and no more of them show up in Delta Gorno, does that mean I need to start the game over from scratch?
I just wish there was a hex edit I could do to a save game file that would reset the shofixti to "not blown up."
Am I screwed or am I screwed?

SPOILERS:
You don't actually need to do anything with the Yehat to win the game. It may not give you the ending you want with all the warm fuzzies of having successfully helped the Yehat culture, but you can still beat the Ur-Quan, though the final battle may be tougher. Not saving the Yehat means you don't get Pkunk Furies and Yehat Terminators for the Sa-Matra battle; either hoard any Furies you already have for that battle, or just get good with the Utwig Juggers and Chmmr Avatars, both of which are decent (but not great) substitutes for the Fury in killing the Sa-Matra force generators.

You don't want to know how damn NICE it is to piss off all alien races, and have them be mad at you, with battles everywhere.. ^^
And ofcourse, one time to be the slave trader you've always wanted to be.
One time to unravel the things the Melnorme know..
One time to go and have your own Zoo..
One time to go into Ur-Quan space, challenging all of em with your souped-up-vindicator..
One time just for the fun of it..
One time to complete it as soon as possible..
One time with "UQMplus" for extra hardness...
One time trying to not-hit-the-starbase.
One time because you're bored..
One time..... because I told you so..

Never heard of that one...Isn't the only quest involving Very Ugly Xenoforms the one you need to save the Yehat??
SPOILERS:
The game is forgiving. Even if you ignorantly killed Tanaka in self-defense after being attacked by him, and then later realized that you needed him and started kicking yourself over it, if you go and save the Shofixti maidens anyway you'll find that his brother, Katana, has arrived in Delta Gorno the next time you go there, and you'll be able to redo the whole thing with him. Kill Katana, though, and you're out of luck.
