Hi Guys,
You may be interested in a version of the sc2 melee I wrote for the gba. At the moment you can only play against the AI (and the AIs pretty bad) and the collision detection can be ropey.

If you dont have a gba and flash cartiridge you can download visual boy and try it. http://vba.ngemu.com

Well well well.. When I read this thread, I thought it was another of those "request" type of things..
But it's actually a GBA version of Sc2 melee... How nice! ^^ If it actually works, (I can't test, no GBA..Will test it with a emulator though)...
Anyways, great project... But you might want to change the name Star control into Ur-Quan Masters (because of legality issues)...
Good luck, this might change into something fun.
edit: After testing it, on my 233mhz PC (which I use for dos games, mainly) with the emulator you specified, all I can say is: It works! ! Even though it went slowly on this craptacular PC.. It worked.. Will try it out again on my faster PC..

it was slow on my 1.2ghz cel speed is a problem, but still, its a work in progress its pretty nice right now, but theres still some problems collision problems, ships not keeping momentum after turning, stationary asteroids, speed... but overall its a good transltion to the gba, can't wait to see what it will turn into

This is freaken amazing. I don't know how to send this to a gba though. Is there some special gba cartrige burner or something?

Thanks, Yes it is slow, and there are many things missing, but it is a work in progress. The big problem now is that to advance it I need to rip out a lot of the core code and re-write it.
To play on a atual game boy you need a flash cartridge, ie a writeable cart that you can upload software to. There is quite a big scene programming for the gameboy, for instance there is a port of elite that runs nicey on the gba

I think you just need one game and two gbas. I'm not sure though, I've never tried it with any game. It is possible though.

You would need two gameboys for two player. Then you would need either one or two cartridges to run it, depending on how I code it.
Some (commercial) gba games require 2 carts for two player other one. If they need only one cart then the master gba somehow has to send the game data to the slave gba, which is more complex. However If I can I would like to program this to use the single cart method, but I may initial go with the two cart method. Or I may not manage it at all!
In my program player 2 refers to the AI, although eventualy I hope it could also refer to a second gba.

Yes, it seems to run very slow. Recharge rates for some ships are also horrid. :-/

Just got a chance to try this out on VisualBoyAdvance. I'm impressed. (Also, thank you VBA, for running full-speed...)
Yeah, you need to work on that update speed. Either more needs to be done per frame, or the framerate needs to be kicked up.
But a very nice interface and recognizable gameplay, so yes, vast kudos. Keep us posted!
