The Melnorme mention in passing a species on Algol IV wiped out by a Spathi terraforming accident (or was that only in the PC version?). You don't find anything when you visit the place, so maybe it would be nice to put something there--if you can think of anything that can be useful without altering the plot. Or at least just a few ruins, for interest.

Also if you meet the Ilwrath as they're on their way to fight the Thraddash, they will ignore you because they have more important business--"an evil Jihad." Not that I mind much but there's no telling how oversensitive Muslims may interpret this. Scholars of course will tell us Jihads are neither "good" nor "evil," but I just think we should avoid opening this can of worms and edit the Ilwrath lines. Hope I haven't been too nitpicky,

As you said, if they get offended by giant spiders being religious zealots, they're oversenstive.  What would they replace it with?  Crusade?  Might offend Christians.  Holy War?  Could offend any religion.

An "evil jihad" is pretty evil, I would think. Smiley

You know, I have a nagging suspicion that the really fundamentalist Muslims have other stuff on their minds besides playing Star Control 2, and I really don't think muslims, hindus, christians, confucians, or hare krishnas of any kind will pay much attention to a tiny tiny detail in a ten-plus-years old computer game.

Can of worms? Can of amoeba seems more fitting.  Grin

Hey, if they're offended, that's too bad. Common, I over heard
my roomie watching South Park the other night. I quote this
(oddly popular) TV show:
"Jews can't be paladins."

If they can get away with that -- on TV no less -- then I think we
can use the word Jihad.

South Park is brilliant, purely because it refuses to conform with any known good taste =p

And its popular because people laugh, but know they shouldnt =p

As to Jihads, if anyone complains, just say that the Universal Translator chose that word at random out of Crusade and Holy war etc =p

I also visited that planet and was sort of disappointed. A mysterious custom color would had been enough even.

I was thinking of doing some algolites for my project. How advanced were they? I got the impression that they were an early civilization.

Good idea let's forget Islamist Dillrats and talk about Algolites. Smiley
Yes I agree Algolites musn't have had much tech to speak of, they didn't make much use of their planet and Spathi colonization didn't affect them. But they way the Melnorme mention them, Algolites were a kind of civilization. Which means, they can't have anything of interest to you (except if they guarded a Precursor shrine or artifact but this idea is already used by Thraddash Aqua Helix, and may be odd that Spathi didn't discover it first).
Second idea: Spathi departed in panic, left behind equipment; can be traded with Druuge?

Well.... In a way they did leave (and they always leave in a panic right?) and left you a caster.... They also left you some nice RU.....(not much though....)

Even though some of these ideas might be great - I think that the core team wants to just get done with 0.4. I don't blame them....

True. We've waited quite some time for 0.4. Adding new stuff into the game really shouldn't have much priority at this point.

Glad to know the team is hard at work. Where's the page with upcoming changes? Besides the missing opening/ending score UQM is fully playable for me. Got very few crashes on my crash-prone Latitude, despite the warning it's an alpha.
