I cannot get the speech of this game working. No matter which settings, it simply does not work. I played through UQM without any speech of the characters.  Sad

How did you install this? The speech files are in a seperate .zip file.

Instructions for enabling speech & remixed music are contained in the "MAC OS X README" file distributed with the game.  This was deliberately done as an extra set of steps in order to keep file sizes low.

As an aside, see here for a few other Mac-specific UQM goodies.
