It seems to me that the fanbase for Star Control is truly worldwide. I'm curious about the exact spread- it seems to me that there are a lot of fans from northern Europe. Anyway, where does everyone live? Ì think the stats for the Precursors home page could be a gauge of sorts as to what nationalities are represented in the fanbase. Out of more than 22,000 visits to the page, 47% hails from the US, with Finland number two at 14%. Canada is third with 7.9%, and then there's Norway, Australia, UK, Israel, Germany, South Africa and the Netherlands with values from 3.2 to 1.3 %. Countries with less than 1%, or 200, hits on the page include Sweden, New Zealand, Spain, Singapore, Hungary, Denmark, Poland, Ukraine, Japan, Portugal, France, Italy, Malaysia and Bulgaria. Fairly good world wide spread I'd say, although South America seems a little underrepresented.
I'm Norwegian, by the way.

You've got to realize that Star Control 2 was released at a time where the USA had barely noticed the growth of entertainment on PCs. At the time, northern Europe was the centre of all things PC, especially music and demos. I think the stats somewhat represent that.

Something smells fishy. Why does Finland have 14% and Sweden just 1% ? Sweden has almost 2x the population, plus the computer/internet density is very high. Maybe the Soumi boys are much more into that type of music. I just downladed it btw. It is sweet.
Anyone knows the stats for the UQM page?
Sweden used to be pretty large on the demo and 'cracker' scene, btw. A lot of the former crackers are working in game development today, hehe.

When it comes to music from the SC2-era, Sweden may have been big, but Finland was absolutely *massive*. No other country was remotely near their quality and productivity, not to mention interest. I think that explains those statistics.

Didn't we already have a "where are you from?" thread? Oh well, I'm from eastern Canada.
Perhaps, but I couldn't find one on the site search.

Wisconsin, USA.
I hail from California, USA, athough I'm loathe to admit it after this last election.
I don't see why... California is almost always a blue state in the elections. Do we even have any red-staters here?
