Remix Pack 4
« on: November 12, 2004, 09:36:30 pm »

Not to be a bother, but what's the progress like on the New Alliance music?

I'd just like to drop a quick comment that the preview Shofixti track available on the UQM website is really really brilliant, and I sincerely hope that the final released version has the same feel.

I'm excited, just 'cause this set of tunes contains the highest ratio of my old faves from the original game (Orz, Shofixti, Yehat, Chmmr, Syreen).

Progress on pack 4 has been quite poor recently. Most of the music is ready, though. The only major problem we're having, is coming up with a decent Yehat tune. And I just KNOW you'd like us to take the time we need to make that one turn out o.k... Wink

On the up side, you have a lot of good things coming your way when we sort out the Yehat thing. Mark Vera for instance, has made a great, lengthy Syreen that I'm sure you'll love. Also, I think you'll find that some of the music you DIDN'T mention (Pkunk, Zoq-Fot-Pik, Supox) will surprise you. And when the pack does come out, I am happy to note that it will be bigger in terms of song length than the last two packages. In sum, you're in for a treat. Smiley

And, finally, to answer your quick comment: no additional Shofixti remixes has been composed, so the preview will most likely be final.

My god I loved taht shofixti remix no matter what anyone else said. Its dripping with funk, and that is what the original was TRYING to do. In the notes on the mod is says 'ow that funky alien' or something to that effect.

Regarding your forshaddowing: Cheesy

What about the intro and the ending themes? Will they also make their way to #4?

I can hardly wait for the next release. I still listen to the other remixes (starbase tune by tilt and void being my favorite - a masterpiece indeed).
Are there going to be more orbit tunes?

None of this has been decided yet. Indeed, very little has been decided for pack 4, except that it will contain music for the New Alliance races.

You know, despite the fact that they're arranged as so on the Precursors page, it didn't occur to me until very recently to burn those tracks to CD to listen to on the road.  I now have packs 1 and 2 on one CD, and 3 on the third (I'll reburn that with 4 when it comes out).  Hilarity ensues.

You can't imagine the looks I got a week ago while blasting the Melnorme remix out at a major intersection with the windows down and the subwoofer on.

Actually, the looks I got when I did the same thing with "Happy Adventure, Delightful Adventure" from Super Mario RPG were far worse.

Grin I've got a Precursors Megamix cd with all my favorite tracks on it. I think my top 3 are (starbase) under a red sky, (hyperspace) across the galaxy, and (ur-quan) now and forever. I've also got the whole lot on my iPod.

You guys rock!

Melnorme theme, out loud in the public? same for me, except replace "Melnorme" with "Ur-Quan-now and forever."

Yes, but I was TRYING to get weird looks.  If I wanted something to jam to, I'd probably play Starbase Commander.

Oh, one piece always gets me cheered up- "Across the Galaxy". It has neither the sound or feel of the original , fast and techno HyperSpace theme (Which still IS the best IMHO), but it is a very soothing and nice remix. I still want to know what those voice samples in the background are, to me they sound awfully lot like some lines from the Commander´s dialogue.

Out of curiosity -- Will this remix pack contain the intro slide show music and ending credits music?

I was enjoying the slide show when I realized I hadn't heard the music for it in around 11 years...
