Ow...  Why would she grab the guy there anyway?!  If she was grabbing there on me (in a hostile fashion) I'd stab her hand too!

I'm not quite sure who's she's grabbing. Is she assisting her husband by forcing the assailant to submission, or is she stopping the fight by dragging the husband himself out of the fight.
And what would the reason be that her hand has to be caught off? Because she's humiliating her husband? Either because a woman had to help him (they generally don't seem to like women in an active role in the bible), or because she forced her husband to withdraw?
And why are they so specific about the way the woman rescues her husband? Is the real message never to touch a man in that way? Then why mention the fight at all?
Maybe it was just put in because it once happened to the writer Smiley.
