is it possible to just frag all the precursors def
« on: November 29, 2004, 10:34:06 pm »

I have tried to battle the kohr-ah on their precursor orbiting delta somethings planet 1.
I just wondered that are they endless or can they "all" be killed with just enough fighthing,

current situation:

the kohr-ah have won the battle against ur-quan.
they have killed the orz, the traddash, the vux and 1 other.

my vindi:  hellbore cannon (1 in the front)
               6 shivafurnaces
              1 point defence system'
               3 crewpods filled with crew
               3 targeting systems

whit those I have been able to fight almost about 40 kohr-ah
ships. how many are there, i have counted that there are about 42 around the planet.

The point: is it possible to just frag all the precursors defenders?

No the guards are endless.  You need the toady dweeb to get rid of them for you...

For stats:

The ring around the planet has 14 ships per ship on the screen.  So if you bring enough crew to hold you out you can blow that away long enough to get into the planet.

But when you get to the planet you'll meet an infinite force of whatever has won the day at the time you get there.

So if you want to fight the Sa-Matra, you need to get the toady dweeb to help you out.

Or - you could fight one ship, then warp out and then go through. Since the "Vindi" will not be touched by any other ships about 3 seconds after the last contact.

Even though it's unrelated to the topic at hand, I should point out that your Vindicator config is highly inefficient. If you make these adjustments:

Remove two of the targetting systems and one Shiva Furnace
Put three Dynamos where those were.
Move your Hellbore Cannon to the second slot.

You will reap these benefits: Higher energy recharge and an extra (seemingly free!) blast from your cannon. And though it does help your auto-aim to have three targetting systems, one will suffice as long as you're within the proper range.

You could also (highly optional) remove two crew pods and replace them with Shiva Furnaces. With that kind of energy output, you are only one Furnace away from never running out of energy for your Hellbore Cannons!

As far as the actual topic goes, you will indeed need to locate the toady dweeb to get rid of that Kohr-Ah guard force.

I once tried to beat the game by simply destroying thousands of kor-ah
ships. Saddly, it didn't work. Heck, it didn't even tip the balance of
the doctorin war. However, it did land me a hella lot of RUs.

If you escape from a battle, you can't "invincible" through them. It repositions you far away from the ships and gives you no invincibility.

As for killing Kohr-Ah, well, I've gotten rid of ALL my storage bays and I now make all my income from fighting. Only need it for fuel and crew, though, 'cause my ship is perfect I believe.

What I am saying is - after you come out of a fight/talk, your ship blinks in the game for a little. During that time, you can't be contacted for any reason (even if you touch them). So, for the three seconds that it lasts, you can go through the ring.

I just said, you can't, these ships are a special case. You get no invincibility and you are placed a bit away from them.

You can get through the ring this way. However, the endless group
at the battle platform itself will still toast you. The ring of ships is a pain,
but not a huge obsticle. It's the endless group at the Sa-Marta for which you need the talking pet.
