Copyright question

Is it possible to grab SC2's graphics/sounds and use them for another non-commercial project? (it's what the UQM team did, but i don't know if  they had some special authorization...)

Short answer: No.

Longer answer: Ask Toys for Bob for permission first; noone can guarantee that they'll say yes, but history has shown them to be quite supportive of fan projects.

History has also shown that they ignore such requests until someone has a working model.  That way, they can judge the work, and if not found worthy, they can deny its use.  Check the License though, it may be that the Art may only be distrubuted with UQM.
