Pkunk and the Yehat civil war?

I always played SC2 with out paying too much attention to the matter on Pkunk and the Yehato civil war. Is there any way to get Yehat back on your side or prevent Pkunk flying to theyr territory and die?
I bought some information from Melanorm. They sayed that i could pretend to be the god of Ilwrath with the umgah transmitter (or something similar) but all it did was a little monolog where the Ilwarth stated that he was not worhthy. Any way to command them to serve me or stop them attacking Pkunks?

The Ilwrath have no play in to the whole Pkunk/Yehat deal; they just move out the way when you send them off to fight the Thraddash, making it easier for you to get to Procyon and talk to the Chmmr without having to be flamed by a hundred million buggers on the way.

The Pkunk won't die if you do the whole Yehat deal right.  If you use the Shofixti to start the Yehat "Civil War", you'll catch wind of them again, though it won't be till near the end of the game, when you're actually in the middle of taking down the Sa-Matra.  But don't be alarmed when you see their sphere of influence completely disappear; as long as Commander Hayes doesn't say anything about people losing conciousness in the Starbase and as long as the civil war is at least in some effect, everything will turn out great.[/color]

One thing I always do to keep the cute new-age bird mystics alive-- I never visit them whatsoever until I have absolutely everything else I need to complete the game.
Then I visit them, and it's just a matter of three quick quasispace trips before the game ends.

Of course, doing it this way means it makes no sense when the Yehat mentions what he says about 'absorption'.

Oh - they don't leave until you've visited them? Huh -- and what are the other quasispace trips for??? I understand the first one, for the clear spindle, but unless you're going by plot and refusing to use the spindle until you've been told how to do so, I don't get it.

Trip one: From Pkunk to Utwig, to give them the Ultron and get the Bomb.

Trip two: From utwig to Chmmr to get your flagship modified.

Trip three: From Starbase to Quan space to win the game.

Considering you need to get the Clear Spindle from them, I'd hope so. ... that makes me wonder, has anyone tried going to the Pkunk homeworld after their sphere disappears?

There are empty cities with nothing more than minerals in the same locations as them.
