Crash when selecting certain ships
« on: January 17, 2005, 12:44:30 pm »

Hi there

I have recently gone through some nostalgia and downloaded uqm to experience the game again. I can downloaded the content.zip file for the game twice now. The first time it crashed at right away and I figured it was corrupt. Second time game ran perfectly but I found I was unable to use the Supox and Zoq-Fot ships (game crashed upon selecting them in super melee). Here's the error message from the compile thingy:

Now the content.zip file may be corrupt again, but I just thought I'd run it past you guys first before spending another hour downloading the file (56K modem!!!). Thanks

It does look like a corrupt content.zip file. Try checking the checksum (on the download page).
If it's corrupt, the most frequent cause is that it is just not downloaded completely. In that case, you should be able to continue downloading the file where it left off.

Hi,

I'm getting the same kind of message but with nearly any image, including the menu files (newgame.*.png).
What I can't begin to understand is that the images are there alright, and the .ani files are in mint condition too ; and I'm pretty sure I've managed to run my compiled copy on this computer before !
Some images are loaded without problem, for instance title.png.

Could there be an issue with my SDL build ? I've tried running uqm -o and uqm -x but the result is the same.

EDIT : nevermind, I found this thread and downgrading SDL image did the trick.
