Awesome, hopefully they wont completely butcher the storyline and keep it wittily funny (though SOME butchering of the storyline is bound to happen as Book--->Movie translations are never perfect...).

Oh Freddled Gruntbuggly thy micturations are to me as plurdled globbleblotchits on a lurgid bee. Groop, I implore thee, my foonting turlingdromes, and hooptiously drangle me with crinkly bindlewurdles, or I shall rend thee in the gobberwarts with my bluglecruncheon, see if I don't!

Of course the books are going to get butchered for the movie! Douglas Adams himself butchered the radio plays for the books and all previous material for the TV series, and he butchered everything for the movie screenplay he worked on before his death!

*cough* Given that the series only became wildly, internationally popular with the books, and *I* like the books better than the radio plays, and Adams changed a hell of a lot of things from the radio plays when making the books, it's pretty clear that the "butchering" process is not necessarily something negative.
Granted, the TV show, when compared to the books, really *was* butchered. But that was because they took a lot of creative control away from Adams and gave it to that stupid BBC director guy. The stuff Adams oversaw -- the radio show, the books, the 1980s text adventure computer game -- were all great and all different from each other.
This movie is almost completely based on Adams' own (still evolving at his death) script, and all indications are that the directors are going into this with a hell of a lot of respect for Adams' ideas (they've taken the time to talk about fans' concerns, in detail, to the fans, in public forums, multiple times, which is actually pretty uncommon for directors doing adaptations) so while I expect the movie to be different I actually do expect it to be good.
