I love YaBB 1G - SP1!

On the main page, you can see that they've released a preview of the next remix pack - the Zoq-fot-pik theme. I like it a lot. For the first third or so of the song, I thought it was too close to the original and actually a little tamer, but after that the song really goes all over the place, which definitely suits the ZFP.

Wow, this remix is just about perfect. No wonder they're show-casing it before the rest.

Heh, don't you worry. We didn't release the best remix first. It's a very very good remix, and if that isn't the best one, well... I'll let you make your own conclusions about the full remix pack.

We did. You did. Yes we can. No.

For those of you who may be confused, it's on the front page of Medieval Future, not of the Precursors.

Actually, the *real* news item is on the front page of this site. The news on www.medievalfuture.com were mostly just there to provide a mirror in case this site went down again.

This track is ok. I'm a little disapointed by it. I dont like the drums one bit (especially the lonely hits at the begining), and I dont like the parts that sounds thin.
About half way through it picks up and gets more creative and musical. All the parts that are not copied from the original are awsome, and the loop is cool, but before those new bits come in it sounds really hollow.
Oh, the mangled voices are awsome.

Alright, a new remix is coming!
You guys are amazing, I have the music from 3 games on my hardrive, which comprises 90-95% of all the music I listen to. One of those three is your collection of remixed starcontrol themes.
Keep us informed of your progress.

But... you told me the Pik would have an opera solo!
Other than that, it is great. But really, how about that Pik solo?

(Reposting this from the Precursors guestbook as it is highly relevant.)
Forevian May 12th, 2005 - 12:42:18
(...) In the ZFP theme there are no "live instruments" but you'll hear some in other releases. I think they add some spice to this mostly electronic orientated project.
EDIT: Ok, after those words from the author, perhaps I should throw in my little review of this track.
The first minute stays very close to the original, and I have to agree with Chrispy that the drums sound a bit thin; they sound almost midi-like. This part in itself is, however, a nice update of the original theme.
After about a minute, the song calms down, with more atmosphere, and a chaotic synth solo gives way to what sounds like a plucked folk instrument. A lot going on in this part, with plenty of little details. Great!
Around 2:20 the pace picks up - in fact it doubles - and leads up to a nice conclusion which leaves us more or less where we started.
Overall thoughts: Not the best opening, but then the original material was not all that great to work with. I should know, TiLT and I struggled with a remix of this for a long time before we decided to throw the ball to Forevian. When the song takes off proper after the first minute, it is great throughout. Great use of percussive sound effects in the different parts, and there is definitely a "party" flavour here. A very good remix, but comparatively the poorest of the three remixes Forevian has done for the project.
