Yeah it's great isn't it? Some people have spent a lot of their free time on the UQM project (I'd guess). Big thanks in their general direction!
I actually missed the game when it came out. I have some vague memories playing SC1 melee with a friend though.
In any way, SC2/UQM, Exile and a few other oldies have been the only games that impressed me the last few years, which shows how strong they are (or how weak new games are) (or that they stopped making games of this genre).
Note: 'StarCon' was actually a game for the Playstation I think. I'm not sure what a good short for StarControl is, SC can confuse it with StarCraft.

For short, I like to call it:
Starcontrol: The Battle of the Good and Noble Alliance of Free Stars and the Evil Ur-quan with Their Hierarchy of Terrifying Battle Thralls of Death and Pain.

The modern remake version of the game that they were gonna make (not with TFB's involvement) was called StarCon, to make it sound cool and fresh and more appealing to people who hadn't played Star Control (as they thought no one would buy "Star Control 4" if they hadn't played Star Control 1, 2 or 3). However, it never got past the very early development stages, so StarCon is still a safe term to use for Star Control.

You can call Starcontrol 2:
Starcontrol 2: The Exciting Adventures of Captain Zelnick in His Unbelievably Precursor Ship, the Vindicator, as He Explores Space, Meets Over Two Dozen Aliens (action figures sold separately), Fights the Evil Ur-Quan Death Fleet, and Unlocks the Dark Secrets of the Past, While Trying Not to Get His Ass Atomized.
As a shorter version, you can call it SC2EACZHUPSVHESMOTDAFEUQDFUDSPWTNGHAA
For short, I call SC3:
Crap

" For short, I call SC3:Crap" but it's one letter longer.

"perhaps you have not been following the very post you responded to..."
No, I did. On the other posts, my "short" versions were longer than the original versions. SC3-Crap is the least exagerated of these, which is why I was poking fun at how it was the only one being pointed out. It's stupid, I know, but I never meant for it to be halarious.

We did. You did. Yes we can. No.

But SC3 was the only one you claimed was shorter.

"But SC3 was the only one you claimed was shorter."
Nope:
"For short, I like to call it: Starcontrol: The Battle of the Good and Noble Alliance of Free Stars and the Evil Ur-quan with Their Hierarchy of Terrifying Battle Thralls of Death and Pain."
