Does the installer contain a trojan horse?

I ask because when I try to download the installer, my anti-virus software tells me there's a trojan horse virus and then I don't download it.  Has this happened to anyone else?

Our  installer is built using an NSIS script. If the installer contains a trojan, that means NSIS contains a trojan. It's more likely that this is a false positive though. What anti-virus software do you use, and what exactly is the message?
The installer will contain code to make an internet connection (to download the game files). Trojans often do similar things; it's possible your virus scanner is confused about this.

So time to update your virus definitions? (This is not such a bad idea to do regularly anyhow; new virusses come out all the time)

I'm using Avast anti-virus.  It auto-updates its virus definitions regularly, but for some reason it tells me the installer has a trojan.

What it does is when I go to download the installer, I choose to save it to disc, then the warning pops up telling me there's the trojan.  From there the only option it allows is to abort connection.

Since you're sure there's no trojan I guess I just need to turn off my anti-virus while I'm downloading it.

I didn't say I was sure. I've told you what I know, and what I know makes a false positive likely. I know I didn't put a trojan in there, and I trust the other team members didn't.

I was thinking it might have been something that the mirror sites snuck in there.  But after trying to download from every mirror and getting the same results that scenario seems unlikely.

no offence bill. but meep just told you its a false positive. even nsis said so. there is no trojan. i use antivir, and its a far better antivirus than avast or avg. i also scanned it with a-squared(antitrojan). thiers is a very good antitrojan scanner. if it was a trojan, this puppy would of gotten it for sure.

to repeat: there is NO trojan in the installer. but if you still insist there is. then by all means delete it an dont play UQM. your loss i suppose.

If you don't like the installer, don't use it. UQM doesn't need much in the way of installing anyway, so all you need to do is download an executable and the contents you want. Put the contents zip in a subdirectory called content of the directory you have the executable in, and that should be it.

Finding download links for the UQM Windows binary is left as an exercise for the student.

Alternate strategy: download source code and compile.
