Ok, I'd go for the narrator in Empire Star, who is known as 'Jewel' for most of the body of the book. Or the protagonist in The Left Hand of Darkness.

The God-Emperor of Dune, in book 4. I think he's one of the nicest "aliens" I've ever read about.

(much nicer than that darth-vader, that's just a wannabee ruler of the galaxy Wink ).

G'Kar. I really like that the first thing he tries to do in the pilot is the last thing he ends up succeeding in at the end of the series.
