Turns out we have not been wasting all these years playing CGs. I saw a report on the news last night that said video/computer games positively train our brains in areas we use in work and other important tasks. No big surprise to me, but now there is evidence!
Repent, Naysayers!
And remember kids, where there's a thumbstick, there's a way.

Based on other studies, I think that keeping up your usage of reasonable amounts of game time gives continuing benefits. Challenging your brain is like excersizing, you have to keep up with it to stay in shape. For this reason, you may wish to rethink your game fast, zan. Especially since there is no longer a social downlooking of interactive brain training.
I think the hours I spent driving warthogs in halo 2, saved me from crashing my car into a ditch. I owe it all to master chief.

I think Starcontrol's super melee also promotes brain exercising, as you must keep track of many things at once (or else you die).

Nah, you just sit on your ass and play games until your organs explode, then you take prescriptions to keep yourself alive and you won't have to excercise.

We did. You did. Yes we can. No.

There are threats. There is filth. Then there is self-cleansing filth.

The brain and the body are not disconnected. If you dont excersize the body your mind will pay for it.

"There are threats. There is filth. Then there is self-cleansing filth."
Not sure what that has to do with games and mental exercise, but an interesting quote none the less.
"The brain and the body are not disconnected. If you dont excersize the body your mind will pay for it."
If they are connected, then my body will stay in shape from my intense mental exercising (in the form of games). Hehe.
Seriously though, you are entirely correct. But there was nothing in this study which said people should not excercise.

"Throwing daggers is an efficient way to kill hostile lifeforms."
And of course you'd need to kill hostile life forms, as you are not really an all powerful machine or hard crystal, but a soft and squishy human.

I just read an article in Discover magazine about the whole 'video games are good for you' phenomena. Apparently, laparascopic surgeons who play three or more hours of video games each week are less likely to make mistakes! If I ever have to have surgery, I'm giving the surgeon an X box a month before.

I did a report for high school and my only source for information was from a video game about pirates. I got an A+. And the teacher thought I did a lot of research... he was silly...

Reminds me of the girl who got an A from a history exam in university which dealt with the Roman military based on Asterix.
