Joystick button problem
« on: June 05, 2005, 09:04:32 am »

Probably a minor issue but I can't seem to get it worked out.

The game doesn't recognize my trigger as  button 0 and instead is using button 2 as the primary weapon. I'm using a Logitech ATK 3 USB joystick on Windows XP Pro. I tried editing the .cfg file but no go.
I assume I'm missing something simple. I would really prefer the trigger button  for primary firing and button 2 ( on top ) for the special.

Any ideas?

if your using windows, go to control panel. open game controllers. find out the button number assigned to your trigger button you want to use. map that in your keys.cfg.

I had a similar problem.  I use a Playstation-style controller.  Windows listed my buttons as 1 - 12, but Star Control read them as 0 - 11.  Wasn't too hard to experiment with them though.  Kept changing the value of the menu select button up one and jumping back and forth out of the menu, mapping on paper where the buttons were.

I got it. Trial and error with button mapping.

Thanks for the tips.
