I've been playing v0.4 through without hints for about a week now, and I had definitely had problems finding the VUX beast.  I can also see how it would be confusing trying to find the Melnorme homeworld.

Although, I definitely remember finding the Syreen homeworld from an in-game clue.

Finding the Melnorme homeworld might be in a sequel; it's definitely not in SC2.

Good to know.

In any case, the VUX beast does have a really strong clue, but only if you 'befriend' the Thraddash by destroying enough of their fleets (you can't make the suggestion that they go attack the Kohr-Ah, as this prevents them from becoming your allies!)

You can still become their "teacher" after sending them off to fight the Kohr-Ah, actually.  Smiley

WTF? I must have blown away thirty of them... Or so I thought. OK, there goes my weirdest SC2 glitch.

Well, if you backstab them and Take Their Stuff while they're gone, then you can never be friends with them ever again.

When I started out, I always got confused at the starbase screen. I could either "outfit starship" or go to the "shipyard". I dunno about you, but those 2 options sounded exactly the same to me at the time. I mean, the shipyard both builds ships and manages existing ships. The vindie isn't any ordinary starship, it's the fleet flagship. I'd prefer if the "outfit starship" option was relabeled to something that emphasized that you were managing the flagship, like "outfit flagship", or "outfit Vindicator".(or however you named it)

It's nothing major, but it has been a pet peeve of mine.

That's the kind of stuff that's best covered in a manual, readme file, FAQ, or wiki in my opinion. There is no need to change the game itself for something that can be quickly explained elswhere.

Even for people who choose not to RTFM, the functions should become apparent after the player  has selected each option at least once.

Blowing ships when attacking their HOMEWORLD doesn't count, they even mention it themselfs! You have to destroy twenty ships in hyperspace or in a solar system.

yet you can still buy their ships for some reason (not that it's much of help)

I know about attacking a homeworld; I suspect I tried to take them over after nabbing the helix. Bad idea.
