Also snoop around here and on the PONAF boards for cool stuff he hasn't put on that page, like the syreen/spathi thing and the ur-quan painting.

Damn, that's one fine interpretation of ZEX's Beauty under 'Life Planets'.

yeah, I think sc2 (or arnes project) would work really well on the handhelds (GBA, PSP ).
The game should not be that expensive to develop either.
TFB (or outsourced w. supervision) could easily pull it off.
(And they should REALLY consider arnes work.)
I guess the project just doesn´t read like "10X investment back" to the moneypeople Wink
Or perhaps it´s just what developers THINK they´ll think?
Somebody should try. Besides Arne.
(OR, preferably WITH Arne, of course.)

Thanks for the asspats.

The game I had in mind will require a bit more CPU and mem than a handheld can cough up. I want the entire game, from start to finish, to be on one map with all the species going about their business simultainiously (ie. the entire game is one huge map). That sort of thing is rarely ever done. A few games I can think of that did it is Warlords (fantasy with many races on one map), Civilization and uh... Sim Ant? Maybe not Sim Ant, it randomized/simulated the sections you weren't playing. Sim Life was realtime though.

The target is PC, but no one would dare to invest in a 2D topdown game nowdays, and I doubt people (mainstream market) would buy it.

what about a 3D version? I have the same idea for a space game Arne... one map. I just have no art or programming skills to interpret my idea.

Your art is beautiful. I love the style and look of it. I've spent more time on your website than I probably should have.

And while I've said it before and I'll say it again, don't let the technical aspect of your game get in the way of it being fun. It doesn't look like you're going to have much of a problem with that, but keep it in mind. If you start working on a Kzer-Za and you're getting into the darkness of it and making something that would scare the bejezus out of H.R. Geiger, take a step back and lighten it up.

IMHO, too many SC sequels take too serious of an approach to the material. That was (one of) SC3's problems. That, also, has plagued the TimeWarp project. Don't let the story get too deep or serious and this'll rock.

Unless it dies like every other SC fan sequel.

Why does megaman get all the cool fan made sequels?

Arne -  Yes, I agree, such a game would be hard to fund for a pc-version. Pc-gamers play other things (Counterstrike & such. Except for individuals such as us here...very few. And yes, I´m generalizing, heavily.

Although, a -similar- game adapted for handhelds just might work.
