Going through whole map with that little cross is very slow and annoying. Is there any easier way to find start systems, like some fan map, mod or anything? Like where I can eneter name and it find it for me on map (whether in-game or external map).

In fact, the entire SC2 section on Pages of Now and Forever is hideously helpful. During my most recent attempt at the game, I kept cross-checking bits and pieces all the time. I found this map http://www.classicgaming.com/starcontrol/sc2/maps5.shtml to be especially useful when planning longer mining trips.

I just felt like interjecting that my favorite map resides here. It's elegant, combining the quasispace map and the hyperspace map into one. It's also easy to read and cheap to print (if needed) unlike most of the starmaps which have black backgrounds.
And yes, there is an interactive application that displays the starmap. You can find it on the PONAF files page, which I think was already linked to above.

That one is great, indeed.. But it blocks a piece of the map..
Luckily, I have the "master" of it ("Deluxe map of Hyperspace" - the black on white one that came with some copies of SC2).. An original copy.... And a printed out one too, for planning out mining routes and whatnot..
