You can't, just try to get the utwig bomb and the sunray device and you should be ok. Also next time you play this, use the Quasi space portal, it saves so much game time. You can't do anything to stop them, but once they start killing people, go talk to a kzer-Za ur quan, its intresting what they say, also if you want to see the alternate loser ending, wait for them to kill everyone then they will go to the sol system.

Theres an ALTERNATE loser ending? as in a normal loser and an alternate?

There is only one loser ending and it is when the kohr-ah come to the sol system blow up the starbase and incinarate earth. The broadcast loser ending comes from a kohr-ah and it is this:
 WARNING SPOLIER!!!
Attention human!
This broadcast is to inform you of your defeat.
We, the Kohr-Ah, have destroyed all the sentient species in this region of space
and now we have eliminated the Starbase orbiting your planet Earth as well.
Your efforts to resist us are futile.
You are defeated!

There are a few possible endings I believe.
I know you can surrender to the Kzer-Za Ur-Quan. Can blow yourself up with the Utwig bomb... Think there might be one or two more.

Eventually, yes. The only hope for Earth's survival is you winning the game. Although the Kohr-Ah never get the chance to blow up the Starbase if you blow it up by activating the Bomb while you're floating next to it....
It's not an alternate ending as such, but the storyline of the game definitely feels different if the Kohr-Ah have already annihilated six or so civilized species and you only manage to save the rest by the skin of their teeth. *I* consider a game where you let the poor helpless Zoq-Fot-Pik get slaughtered to have a different ending from one where you play perfectly and get the Sa-Matra well within the time limit. It's certainly different for the Zoq-Fot-Pik.
