I've noticed that in many situtaions in game, some time limits are metioned. Like the one with the probes, or with talking to Pkunk where they say that they will be extinked in about a year. Also in same convesation I had an option to respond that I'm on a five yer mission. After that, I checked a couple of sites, and it turns out that some release of the game (not sure which one) had a limit to mid of year 2159. Are those time limits in UQM too?

crap, i thought it was 3 year limit, looks like i need to slow doooooooooooooooowwwwnnnnn now.
I mean the first time i played i took my time, didn't even bother to find quasi portal. Then around when the kohr-ah were cleansing i nearly got to the sa-matra before the kohr-ah got earth but i just needed like a week in space travel longer. Part of this was due to my noobness because i really just mined anything on any planet, took to much time. Insted of just getting radioactives and nobles. So my advice, rush to get quasi portal as fast as possible, then you can go as sloooooowww as you hearts desire.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Time limit is the single thing that I hate the most in any game. I hate when I have to race with the clock all the time . Please tell me, is there a way to remove the global time limit?? If not, there's no point in me playing the game ...

Hey.. You know.. The time limits really aren't that cumbersome... You just need to play the game the right way, IE. instead of "mining only", do this: "Mine near where you need to go to get/do something" (like when you need to meet the Spathi: mine in Spathi space!)
It's just that the game doesn't really come with a manual.. I'm fairly certain that the ORIGINAL game came with a manual that said something the same as I just did... I should check up on that sooner or later.

The first times I played the game I didn't know there was a time limit. Still, I felt a sense of urgency from the various inputs you get in the game ("sir, this is happening right now"), and I think it's this that helped me finish the game well within time.

We did. You did. Yes we can. No.

Considering that the game can be completed in six months or so, five years is generous. Anyway, if you solicit the advice of the starbase commander, he tells you to stop mining after one year.

When I usally get everything done, I relax and attack the kohr-ah with the supox and utwig allies. Its very fun, i killed the lohr-ah from 6 systems in a couple game months. My god, I even broke the defencive ring around the Sa-Matras guards, When i approached it, there was a infinite amount of Kzer-Za around a PLANET not the actual SA-MATRA. That was one of the glitchs i found. Guess they never thought someone would do this.
