Probe gives Bizzare Coordinates
« on: August 15, 2005, 11:06:05 pm »

I was talking to a slylandro probe and it told me the coordinates to some random place in the lower right of the map. Just sitting in hyper space. What does that mean errrr, what is it?

The Slylandro probes don't use the same coordinate system as the others. If you get more coordinates from them, you should be able to see the pattern.

Is it possible these are the places where the probes were made by another probe?

He's trying to give you a non-spoiler hint.  The screwy coordinate system means something to the game.

(and yes I had to try the marquee option - haven't seen it in use yet so I thought I'd see what it looked like)

Whats the pattern, I've Beat the game, and got self-destruct code before. But its really strange. Tell me, I don't care about spoilers though.

That's just super, but in case you haven't noticed, this is a public forum, not a private chatroom.  Other readers may not have beaten the game, and might not want spoilers.

As for the probe's coordinates, note the discrepancy between where the Probe says it is, and where your instruments say you are.  Use appropriate amounts of arithmetic, apply the "right-hand rule", and the answer to your mystery should be plainly obvious.

It is in the SC2 hints book.
If you really want to spoil one of the last secrets UQM has for you, that's where you can find the answer.
...or you can read the source code.
