Too late
« on: August 21, 2005, 03:14:52 pm »

I always get into games very slowly and on this ocassion i think it proved fatal. It is now Nov 7 2159 and the Ur'Quam fleet has moved around the map systematically wiping out all other civilistion i am assuming that i did not complete some objective quickly enough and must therefore restart. Please tell me if i am right.

I see I have been defeated. I guess i spent to long harvesting resources. Can someone  give a goodplan of action indicating roughly howlong to mine for and then when to start exploring. Thakyou.

Trick is, to explore *while* mining! Also, try to hit the bigger stars, white and blue are the best ones.. Don't go for the little fishies, go for the big ones instead.. Also, kill off the Cruiser you get at the start, and kill off the Ion Bolt Gun at the start. Replace them with thrusters/turning jets.

Good luck. Smiley

Don't bother harvesting crap, the less valuable minerals just take up space, if you stick to stuff like radioactives and precious metals you'll have more money than you'll ever need and finish UQM by 2157 Smiley
If you accidentally pick up the wrong minerals, you can jettison them later by picking Cargo from the menu.
Good planets to visit are yellow, orange, some of the purple ones too. You should generally avoid grey, blue and green.
There's lists of good places to mine on the web, if you don't want to be bothered compiling your own.
Also, if you don't like mining, you can make a lot of money, and have some fun, by shooting enemy vessels. Some of the races are stupid easy to kill, like the VUX.
