this is rediculous
« on: September 07, 2005, 04:46:48 pm »

i flew to the pik-foq etc. :d solar systam. But before I entered it there were some ur-quan vessels (i didn't know at the time as it was just a black dot on my radar) persueing me.
Now, I try to leave the solar system and head back for sol but the place is swarming with ur-quam!
I'm pretty in the begginning of the game so i only got a terran cruiser and a spathi ship.

Now at first a thought, i'll kill them all with my spathi ship, and i win everytime (i got over 10.000RU's from wreck's) but everytime I kill a bastard another one seems to pop up on the map! I've bee fighting for hours now and if i hyperspace emergency jump theres just another ur-quan waiting for me and my fuel is low.
Is this a bug or something? If you kill one another just respawns? Any body else have this problem? I don't want to restart because I think i'm doing pretty good. help!!  Huh

Nah it's not a bug, your in the spot of the Doctrinal Conflict! You'll be swarmed sadly Sad But keep fighting and maybe you can get through. Just leave the Zoq-Fot later and come back to them later.

That is when you start hammering your ALT key after each win and then use your portal spawner when the game gives you control to do so.

He's at the start of the game more or less.  He doesn't have the spawner yet.

Oh dear. If your flagship doesn't have full (or at least almost full) thrusters, you don't stand a chance, really. The Zoq-Fot-Pik homeworld is right in the middle of Ur-Quan space, as you've probably noticed, so there'll be ships incoming faster than you can destroy them, or at least enough to kill you unless you're really lucky and skilled. Hardly surprising; flying right into enemy space right in the beginning of the game has to be bad, right? The Zoq-Fot-Pik did say they had severe problems, didn't they?

If you have a saved game at an earlier state, use it. If not... Well, there are 50 save game slots for a reason. Messing things up so that you have no chance of winning is quite easy in UQM, especially in the beginning.

Sounds like he's reloading an old save game or starting the game over then.

Wrong, they are on the rim of the Ur-Quan sphere of influence.

Guesser, my suggestion is to continue and fight your way through, but also be sure to set course outside Ur-Quan space. They will not chase you outside the sphere of influence.

If there are only 2-3 on top of your ship, you can still make it away:
Quickly go to the hyperspace map immediately after every battle and have the autopilot move you in whatever direction your ship happens to be pointing in.  If the enemies are moving in the opposite direction, you might be able to sneak past them.  At you earliest chance, save, then head for Sol to replenish your fuel (being pulled around on the HS map drains your fuel too if I recall correctly); you'll have enough RU's to do it with.
