My idea for SC4.. maybe for a Mod? (Very Long read!)
« on: October 29, 2005, 07:35:31 pm »

This has been playing on my mind.. a lot of thinking went into this Smiley, It's an idea for a mod that features all the good races from SC3, while fixing it's bad plot and scrapping the other rubbish races. The races which would be saved are mostly the K'tang (had some really funny conversations with them), Ploxis, Daks and some others, maybe implementing other races. It would feature the return of the 'Synth but not-as-you know them.

Ok.. this is long, but here we go:

Basically, SC3 was an entire simulation conducted by what seems to be the Androsynth who, in a brutal fight with Earther marines, wore silver suits that were reported to "incinerate the body" when killed. During the ensuing battle, you were rescued from the Androsynth mainframe by Tallana and a couple of Earther marines. The reason why they stuck you in? The Androsynth needed your advanced strategic mind to develop plans to destroy the Orz once and for all.

The "vision" was planted there by the Arilou.. which later on you will find out why they did it. The last thing you remember was being stunned by a Androsynth on Undzervalt. He took you back to an unknown location where you spent the rest of your years in SC3 linked to a machine, colonising and making battle tactics in an unknown galaxy, with the Androsynth watching your every move. The entity known as "ICOM" was your Androsynth "watching you and giving instructions", and many of the races which are in the supossed "Kessarri Quadrent" are based on former slave sheilded races or those which has taken flight in the last years. Some were even made up to "make things tougher, or more difficult".

At the time of your capture, the Androsynth discovered Humanity's greatest ship, the Galacticus, and the Androsynth saw this opportunity to gather their own flagship. They sneakily managed to board the Galacticus using old Ilwrath cloaking technology and take over the ship. Before the Earthers managed to bring their Cruisers, and Battleships to bear along with it's Chmmr and Shofixti allies, it entered a Quasiportal using the same Quasi-Portal from the Vindicator in the Kohr-Ah/Ur-Quan Doctrinal Conflict. This take over was a massive embarrasement to Earth..

Tallana was an individual who never gave up looking for you, even in the years you were gone. She always believed "you were out there", and eventually after years of searching she, and many other Star Control personell found you in a secret Androsynth base.

Now that you are unplugged, you now enter the newest threat to the galaxy: The Orz

After the Doctrinal Conflict, it ended with the Kzer-Za surrendering to the New Alliance and any remaining Kohr-Ah to be remanded to them as they never surrendered, which brought their destruction. Now after 2 years which were known as the "Peace Years", it brought a time of prosperity, and peace from the Hierarchy. Many races joined the New Alliance, but the solid Hierarchy races refused to join, most specifically the VUX and the Mycon. The Kzer-Za, sensing this descided to make a formal alliance on their behalf with the New Alliance to keep the Hierarchy while limiting contact as possible while keeping the openly hostile races together under their "social structure". The New Alliance saw no problem with this, as long as they were the ones running the show. During the Peace Years the Hierarchy downed many of the slave shields on many of the lesser races. Also, new faces have arisen in those which have entered the stars for the first time.

However this peace was not to last as the Orz , confident with their new power in our galaxy tried to unleash a massive crusade, all what could be heard from their rambles was "The time for *campers* is *now*, Orz must make all of the *campers* Orz.", and at once the began attacking all known races around their sectors. Also, the Druuge, making contact with the former slave-shielded races around their sectors and those which have entered spaceflight have began decieving, and tricking other races into joining their alliance, and they also have a trading partner as much as decietful as they are, the Ploxis.  The New Ur-Quan Hierarchy, the Utwig and Supox now try to keep this new Druuge alliance under peacekeeping while the threat of the Orz is dealt with the Earthling, Chmmr, Syreen, Shofixti, and the Pkunk/Yehat, and the other races.

But.. the Orz have new allies..

A rogue group of Shofixti, who are fanatical in religious beliefs who believe that after death they "ascend" to a non-corporeal form. The Orz, with these promises of elevating to a higher level have sided with them and become a race of Warrior Monks called the Shofix Exquivan. They are now helping the Orz in their crusade, much to the embarassment of the Shofixti.

Another race, utilising very deadly cloaking technology, weapons and recently un-slaveshielded are the Heralds. These are a race of prophets who believed that Orz was and will come. When the Orz came to them, the Orz supossedly "spoke the words" and this was enough for the Heralds to join the Orz in their crusades.

Also, combat has been taken to a new level with Battleships! (in the mod)

And also the Orz is slowly reeling out it's slow Superweapon, Orz itself. The Sa-Matra is nothing compared to *him* as he is creating a black hole smack in the middle of Orz space. When the portal reaches giant proportions.. the consequences would be grave. (Eventually what this will do if you don't stop it in a set time period is he will suck the stars litterally to his black hole (thats what i've thought.. or something like this).

Using the MK.II, you must figure out how to stop Orz from controlling the known galaxy by making alliances with new and former enemies, and find out the reason behind you being captured, and stop the Orz once and for all!

This will also include SC humour.. heres how the K'tang spring up Tongue.. here we go:

After the Thradassh and the Ilwrath genocided themselves into oblivion in the Draconis system of stars, the Umgah, being the little blobby pranksters and biological geniouses saw an opportunity which would make the whole galaxy under threat, and one for a massive laugh as usual..

So, taking Drone ships they went and took Thradassh and Ilwrath bodies and began to mingle with their DNA, eventually forging a hybrid which would grow super fast into sentience in a short time. It was hoped they would become fanatical, super, mean, strong, monsters to ever terrorise this part of the galaxy, but, something went completely wrong.

When they planted the new biologics in the planet's ecosystem, something went wrong. Instead of the fanatical super strong mean race, it ended up cowardly and weak with the bad attitudes of the Ilwrath and the Thradassh mixed together. When the Umgah saw this they bursted out laughing at what a crap up they made, and decided to see how long this laughing stock would turn out. Eventually, after being picked on by predators, they managed to scavenge, and reverse-engineer destroyed and crashed Ilwrath/Thradassh vehicles, and became the dominant species on the planet. They then made their famous "Power Armour" and took their flights into space, with big mean Crippler class ships to reflect their personality. And on the subject.. the first species they met.. lets say the negotiations didn't go too well. The Umgah however sat in their ships observing and kept on laughing at what a big joke they've done.

I've thought maybe:
At first the K'tang will be hostile to you, but can join you... sort of. But first you must find their history, by getting the genetic codes off the Umgah, rediscovering history by showing them detailed scans of the Thradassh homeworld, and making a trip to the Ilwrath homeworld to finish the final piece of history. The pride in them will be so great that they were of 2 super violent races that they will essentially worship you.. like a great teacher (Thradassh influences coming here Wink.

Also some ideas on implementing the Ploxis:

The Ploxis were roughly brought up the same time as the Earthlings were brought up, low technology, but instead they entered a civil war in our 21st Century years. In this time, the leading corporations on the planet, known as the Plutocrats, and the Rebel Coalition comprised from those recieving the backbone of Plutocrat living decided to civil war against each other. Things were going well for the Rebels, developing advanced technologies while the Plutocrats used shoddy technology, more standard to their way of living and thinking. These advanced technologies developed VERY quickly allowed the Rebels to access space programs materials. The Plutocrats however, made a BIG discovery to their advantage. A Precursor factory similar to the one on Undzervalt was found and on the Ploxis planet, and with the materials at the Plutocrat's disposal, they created many Precursor vessels outfitted with their technologies. This discovery would then turn the war to the Plutocrat's side.

Seeing destruction imminent, the Rebels made an exodus, trying to protect their spaceport from Plutocrat assults. Only 1 craft, holding all of the Rebel's beliefs and culture fled that day with a new discovered drive which created a red swirling vortex when leaving the system. This craft held something between 1-3 Million Rebel Ploxis.

After leaving, they travelled in an automated cryosleep.. (You will find this craft somewhere in Quasispace, but you will be unable to wake the Ploxis up until you get the command codes somehow.)

The sounds of war and the emergence of a Hyperspace activity drew another race: The Ur-Quan. The Ur-Quan then happily slave-shielded the Plutocrats in their own planet to revel in the luxuries of their own planet without any threats of civil war backed up by the Ur-Quan. Until the slave-sheild went down that is. Then they met a race just as selfish, spiteful and devious as they are: The Druuge. These same aspects of each other however, led them to become trading partners, with both enslaving 2 other races, the Doog and the Clairconctlar.

Also in the mod, would be a Spathi answering machine on their homeplanet  Cheesy So, you could shout at them saying "YOU TWO TIMING CRAB-FOR BRAINS! EVEN WHEN I WAS ENSLAVED YOU STILL TWO TIMED ME!" (or something along those lines).

So far it's like this.. I've got other ideas.. what d'ya think?  Basically this is merging of some ideas from other people that was good while adding some plots... but anyway, would you consider this a good idea for a mod that I may undertake in the future (or now perhaps?)

I think you may always try to make a mod like this.
It sounds interesting and promising enough to at least make SC3 a little un-done.
Good work!
It would be fun to see some of it becoming implemented.

But what about the Shofixti? Their race has been replenished for what? some  20 years or so... Do you really believe they would already turn against Earth and thei saviour, Cptn. Zelnick?
Maybe you need to prove to them that you are the historical Zelnick one.

But I would rename the SC3 races. BTW: where are the XChaggers? They are my favourites? And the Ortogs? I had a laugh when I saw them first. Especially, when I learned who they were..... Although it wasn't a good talk to the one....

Enjoy!

Zelnick was gone a long time.. maybe as a quest in game like you said, you can prove that you are the historical Zelnick, and they will side with you Smiley

Hmmm maybe renaming, but some names should stick, like K'tang, Ploxis and the Daktaklakpak  (which were funny to talk to especially Tongue), but maybe some can be renamed and added.

Others like the Ortogs made a massive anger in the people of SC that they were the Precursors. It may be scrapped.

This will greatly scrap the Eternal One's storyline, they were an Androsynth simulation, and at the end when you fix the Sentience thing you do get to fight the Orz, so it's probably like a final showdown to see if you can take on normal Orz ships as well as other tough cookies, and win.

I too thought this sounded decent as far as fanfic goes.. It's within the spirit of the original and sounds potentially humorous. I didn't get a "no-no-no-aargh" reaction when I read it, so I think you have indeed put some good thought into it!

Okay, I also didn't like the Precursor Mystery to be unravelled this way (or even be it soveld at all),
But it was a funny Idea. I really had a laugh about it (the first time). Later times I found it amusing at maximum. But still, it was a funny idea. But since I never took SC3 as "serious" continuation (neither with some of the black/white characters, nor the images of the aliens, especially not the Doog), I never had a problem finding the plot and some side plots (XChagger visiting and only finding a cow in orbit, the K'Tang being neurotic weaklings, the Daktaklakpak being malfunctioning computers, the Vyro-Ingo being the genetic counterparts of the Vux (although that seemed very far fetched to me), the Rabbits delayed Spathi-colonizing, the green Deep Child Mycon) very amusing and interesting.
The game was made with the humorous spirit of the SC-world, but it solved the wrong mysteries.
And the ORZ-defection was not well explained anyway (I cannot remember why they turned against you. Just because...?).
But some things fitted well. Try to hold intelligence below sentience. As well biological as well as computers. Things like the Mycon and the Daktaklakpak could happen. But that the Daks completely forgot that they were made by the Precursors..... unlikely. And that everybody knew about the Eternal1s.
The only real plot i hated was everything about the Eternal1s.

Oh, I just remembered: what about the Sailors of The Depth, The Protectors Of The Reef, The Owa?
I somehow liked them (the idea of their race), although they were a little bit stubborn.

Enjoy!                                     (Life is short anywa)

Hmmm the Owa..

The first thought I had was maybe the Syreen had to move again becuase of the Orz Crusade, to Organon (it was the 2nd best on the list). The Owa would be fleeing some catastrophe from a rainbow world (they were created on it, but it was totally inhospitable. They built underground until they had enough to venture into space, and they looove terran worlds). The Syreen and Owa would then argue over who claimed Organon Tongue. (This was a rejected idea)

But then I thought maybe this is a bad idea, maybe the Owa should be there as a race, who have evolved on one of the Precursor planet dumps. The Owa on the planet found Precursor technologies, and a big history module about the Precursors (and Orz *hint hint* CRUCIAL TO COMPLETE GAME, on how the Precursors tackled Orz) which had shaped their culture to what it is today, and you wouldn't expect this, becuase they would talk chivalrous babble to you about how the Precursors slew the Orz through and through. The Voyager ships would be there to explore and tell more about the Precursors and how they were the great beings they were. After some hints, some flattering, and some giving, the Owa may join you and tell you about the history module about the Precursors which shaped their culture so much.

Oh yes and on the Precursors, they were killed off by the Orz, but they made a huge valient attempt to stop Orz. If in their failiure, they would leave a giant arrow in the galaxy to hopefully point this to the secret of beating Orz to show other sentient races about how the Precursor's attempt at Orz failed, and how to fix what they could not. Maybe you come into contact with some Precursors under Orz control as *fingers*.

After figuring long, and hard on what killed off the Precursors, heres how they got whooped.

The Precursor society was big, and their homeworld was in Delta Crateris. This society was very big enough to fill our universe with the seeds of life, and they had reached the peak of technological understanding, and spiritual understanding.. but that's what they thought.

In another dimention however, there was a being which fed on the spiritualness of it's prey. However, the sentient evoloution in this dimention was agonisingly slow, so as such, this being of great magnitude and power could not feed on in it's environment very well. The Precursors however, made a discovery known which would damn their race forever. I believe you know what damned them- the same two words over and over in Precursor dialect- Dimentional Fatigue.

Seeing a whole new dimention opened to it, the creature at a galaxy's length wanted to escape to find brand new prey, so it began to push and use his sentient eating knowledge on the Precursors.

The Precursors were being changed and mutiliated. The first ones to die/turn were the scientists, then the next it would seep into mainstream Precursor society. The Precursor civilisation was gradually looking bleak for the Precursors but not yet, as they made a discovery which would turn their secret war. The life-form then began to adopt a new feeling from  the Precursors fed to him, assimilating their thoughts and processes, and began to understand what the Precursors in their perfect society lacked- Negativity. The Precursors may have achieved a perfect society, but their subconcious and their primal instincts harboured a want to Kill, Steal, Burn, and other manevolence, even if the Precursors were abysmal to notice such a thing. The lifeform caught on these emotions and thoughts and this changed him from being a life-feeder to a thinker of something sinister, more evil.. and adopt a name which harboured fear, terror, agony and all. "Orz" in Precursor dialect simply means everything negative, it means Terror, Fear, Evil, Agony, Despite, and possibly a hundred other words of negativity compiled by this super advanced race.

The war raged on with Precursors being changed/swapped with the new Orz, and the Precursors were losing. As the galaxy was half-way consumed, they decided to quickly set about a chain of events which, in their faliure, would signal other sentients to at least have a chance against their own caged monster they freed. Construction of the device was almost complete which would destroy all life in this galaxy, and close the Orz rift as well as damaging his own dimention. None of his taint was to be left alive for if only a smallest Precursor was alive, he would use that to enter our galaxy again.

So, the Precursors decided to place a history module deep underground on the first planet in Groombridge. They also talked and sent their dire situation to the Slylandro who were immune to the Orz influences as they were simply.. gas. They would tell others of the Precursors in the future. They left a huge arrow to Groombridge to point out that the history module was here.

The device would do two things, a galaxy anti-matter wave frequencied on killing everything dimentional and physical. The second would collapse the Orz dimention and thus, the rift, banishing Orz back to it. By this time, the Precursors were almost wiped out, and only one Battleship was left to guard their home system. This battleship was the Precursors flagship, the best of the best.

This battleship held Orz and his twisted Precursor fleet (which looked like giant Nemesis craft) just long enough for the device to be operational. The device beamed out a huge wave in which Orz could not escape. He tried to recall all of his forces to his dimention opening, but it was too late, in which the second phase was operational. The resulting explosion of Orz's dimentional rift annihilated all the twisted Precursor craft, and twisted Precursors and destroyed every single sentient life (with the exception of the Slylandro) within a galaxies radius. The resulting explosion of the rift knocked the Precursor battleship (now sadly empty) into a nearby asteroid belt...

Everything was now silent, and all the Precursor devices were left behind.. just waiting to be found. The Captain must find the Precursor history module on the Owa homeworld (in Groombridge), and take the information of the device to the Chmmr and Ur-Quan Kzer-Za (two oldest races with the most knowledge on these things) to find out what the Precursors did wrong, and how to collapse Orz space without killing everything in this galaxy..

(Just a draft.. but what d'ya think? Should I leave some Precursors with Orz running about?)

No, have the Precursors removed.

And I do not think that the rainbow worlds are an arrow.
They are (together) the DF-banishing device (at least DF-below, not DF-up, where the Arilou come from).

But the Owa (or whoever) did. They found a way of DF-travelling. They were wondering why their theories on DF-travelling did not work. Very much later, they find a way how you could block DF-travelling. But it seemed so unimaginable that someone would build planet-large devices everywhere in the galaxy. But they find some rainbow-planets. And after a lot of research they find out what they are, and how they work and how they can be deactivated.
They recognized that there must be a very good reason why someone took such an effort.
Therefor they did not deactivate the Anti-DF-planets, until they found a lot more about the reasoning why this device existed.
Their complete society focused on solving the why, that the neglected a lot of other technologies (that's why their ships are no better than yours). But when it came time to explore the rest of the galaxy, they took precautions.
Maybe:  They sent non-sentient robots to prepare colonies.
But when they deactivated the planets in their region, they immediatly sent thousands of ships into every direction, to seek and find other races and instruct them to NOT use DF-technologies, because there must be something dangerous ahead.
And to seek the other planets (although their theories showed them quite exactly where they should be). They use the planets as communication device (by switching them on and off, thus sending signals to the other planets, which can detect the status of the other planets). And to protect the planets, because they might be needed later on.

But they come to us, and later learn, that they were too late. When they switched off the planets in their region, the andorsynth found a DF-device of the precursors which started to work again. And because the planets in our region did still work, the Orz could not push over completely, nor as fast as he wanted. But now the Owa are here and repeatedly switch our planets on and off, because they do not know that Orz is here already. And they did find some strange readings on their measuremetn devices, but they could not detect what they meant. They simply thought it meant the availability of an easy place, which they know that they exist, as well as natural DF-portals.
But instead of listening to the Arilou that the Orz are the danger, they try to adapt the planets to close the natural DF-portals as well (which does not work well, and resetting the polarization of the planets (from lower to upper) enables Orz to come to our dimension much quicker.
But seeing the Shofixti Sphere of Influence (soi) grow so rapidly, the Owa think that high fertility might be normal in our region. For all their knowledge, they've forgotten to listen to the knowledge of the natural inhabitants of a region. So they recognize their error far too late to undo it.

I do not like the Owa (or someone else) coming from Groombridge. They simply appear at Groombridge, because thats the first of our rainbow-planets seen from the center of the galaxy.

And you might find out about the fate of the Precursors, but actually you only learn that they chose to sacrifice themselves for the safety of our galaxy.
And no - do not use anti-matter waves. That way, you cannot explain why so much evidence of their existance remained.
You want to wonder, if some survived the sacrifice (maybe on purpose, to check if everything worked). So the final mystery about the precursors remains unsolved. Where are they now? Where did they hide (and how).... Enough stuff for some 10 more SC-stories.... If they solved their DF-crises, why did they hide afterwards??? What problem was even bigger than the DF???
The Slylandro might be your main source of information for your game, but they do not know what happened afterwards. Only that when the Sa-Matra exploded their communication satelite (the precursor one) gave a strong, but completly unsuspected and thus more or less unheard signal, which sounded anyway more like a big whine, completly unintelegible.

Just some ideas and comments on your ideas.

Enjoy!,
 Krulle

BTW: I liked the Precursors being manipulated by the vast and omnipotentious alien mind.
Maybe the remainders of the "old" Orz-Precursors mixture survived in some toads which we know from SC2???
You later find that out, when the Slylandro remark something like "before the shaggy ones dissapeard, they threw dome frogs down from space. They were no fun to play with. They only brabbled about flower -GO-AND-GET-ME-SOMETHING-TO-EAT, ain't that nice clouds? I-AM-HUNGRY.-GET-ME-FOOD." But they mention that the shaggy ones were surprised, that the frogs did have no control over the Slylandros. And that the toads are mentioned to be something like hopelessly lost brothers and sisters, changed by some dark forces....

Not bad at all with the whole Dnyarri Precursor/Orz link there Smiley But isn't the Dnyarri dead and all? (excluding Talking Pets).

If anyone wants to fill in storylines from SC3 races, do so, but don't do:

K'Tang, they've been sorted out in a very SC humourous way "Har Har Har".

Clairconctlar, their Queen was enslaved by the Druuge. The Concs birthed by the Queen are enslaved and thrown in a reactor to get a better.. efficiency in battle for the cannon. The Clairconctlar will tell you about the Queen first, and are at a war with the Druuge Alliance but they don't attack them becuase every dead Clairconctlar is a death to their resistance.
You have to get the Queen back then they join you Wink

The Owa are part of the storyline now.. they can't be changed. Too much valuble info on the Precursors here.

Ploxis are main friends of the Druuge.. their storyline WILL be worked on, but things pretty much the same for these guys, stinky, manipulative human-rat-birds?

Doog.. definatley. I love these guys and I still will Smiley

Races who have to be voted in the mod:

Harika and Yorn- People seem to like these guys I think so unless theirs a vote on these to come back, they may be left out.

Exquivan- Still unsure on these Shofixti worshipping Orz monks.

Heralds- Unknown, maybe a big Orz helper.

The Daks- Unknown, unless someone can fill something on these dudes they will be in. I love the Daks but don't know how to implement them.

Races on death row-

Lk- Fungi aliens, I heard that some people like them, but unless a big outcry comes out these fungi are out.

Xchagger- Still unsure whether to leave these guys out. They are with the Lk on death row.

Races NOT to be included-

Vyro-Ingo- Wtf are these aliens anyway? Tongue I never got how the VUX and these two are linked.

Also maybe some others fresh from my (and other peoples) heads.
Anyone who wants to help out, please do so! (I need constructive criticisms please Smiley) Then once we done the storyline, we can make the graphics and everything Wink

Not bad at all with the whole Dnyarri Precursor/Orz link there Smiley But isn't the Dnyarri dead and all? (excluding Talking Pets).
Of course the Dnyarri are dead.
It was just an idea, that some Precursors devolved under the alien mind into these omni-dangerous brainy toads.

It might add for future plots (the Talking Pets might start to show disobedience, occasianally Ur-Quan run astray and are uncontrollable, especially near very bright and active solar systems).

Owa Voyager, even the name fits into your concept.
But even the Lk might activate the DF-travelling again, since they are locked in some QuasiSpace (*below*, or *above*, we do not know (yet)).

Druuge enslaving the queen might work, but not very original.
Since the Claircontlar seem to have a stone like configuration, you might want the Druuge not raise the Claircontlar Kids and feed them to the furnace, but maybe the Druuge use the "Stones"/Eggs to fire at enemy ships, in the hope that the high speed shot will stick in the hull and that the egg breaks open there and adds to additional damage (some Druuge ships have now white shots and make 16 damage, 4 immediatly, 12 if the shot sticks and the damage happens after about 5 seconds. (Oh mann, even more specialities to program....)

Doog: I did not like them.
They were too stupid to build a interstellar society.
And yet they somehow managed to do so.

Exquivan- Still unsure on these Shofixti worshipping Orz monks.
You mean Orz-worshipping monks.
Just leave them out of the equation.
Or if you want them, depending on the number of the side-plots already implemented, just put them in, without any meaning (just to distract the player from the time limit and to waste time. - they give you tasks to do with very little reward).

Xchagger- Still unsure whether to leave these guys out. They are with the Lk on death row.
Maybe they arrive with the doog (that's why they are stupid now), and when the Doog get into contact with either Ur-Quan, a disease starts to spread among the talking pets.... Imagine for yourself whereto this might lead.

Vyro-Ingo- Wtf are these aliens anyway? Tongue I never got how the VUX and these two are linked.
Yes, leave the out. Thank you. Although genetic experimets might seem funny, but not by separating genes from each other. biochemistry won't really work completly without the other reactions written on the other DNA-half.

Enjoy!

New update, Androsynth.

The Androsynth fought a losing battle against Orz during the past 5 years after Earth's Shield enslavement. The Androsynth were left alone to the Ur-Quan Kzer-Za's own devices, which would ultimatley prove their downfall. But, before the arrival of Orz, they managed to create new forms of art, literature, and new names to seperate themselves once and for all from the true Terran race..

Until on they came across a Precursor artifact which linked with the Rainbow worlds itself. By investigating this artifact they discovered enormous potential for "DF"- Dimentional Fatigue, which would make Hyperspace jumps necessary and ultimatley transform their culture.

However, once discovered, the entity known as "Orz" came along and began to find out the hard way of what Orz does.

The Orz are entities that attempt to 'absorb' other beings spiritual energies for pleasure and food. When one opens up a gate into the 'below' Orz are able to enter our reality as quasi-spirit micro-organisms that infiltrate victim`s tissues. Inside the Orz set up their 'controls' and take over the mind. Resistance is met with disruption of the victim`s tissues (thus the mysteriously appearing cuts and bruises) until the Orz have enough control of the mind to stop the resistance and 'slide' the victim into 'below', where Orz consumes..:

Once in 'below' the victim is taken over, it`s 'juice' intact, and an Orz may now assume the victim`s rightful physical place in reality (to fill in the space). The Orz is then whole and full (including full size), capable of interacting with the 'middle' permanently. This process is also followed with starships on a mass per mass basis. 'Dancing' or battle (pain), and to tell more of the Orz (for consuming) to other creatures is what the Orz seek.

(Taken by the Warlok files, but it fits my description so perfectly..)

The Androsynth were severly unprepared. Many were undergoing extreme changes, others were going insane, the Androysynth were fighting an enemy they couldn't see, and soon, their brothers, and fathers would soon become an alien so unknown to them, their souls damned for eternity..

It was then that the Arilou came and saved a handful from extinction.. using strange methods to rid of the Orz parasites and thus stop him from consuming these individuals.. After taking them back to Quasispace, an area which Orz could not sense or detect them anymore, their gratitude was absoloute to the Arilou, and were determined to have revenge on the Orz, one way or another. Meanwhile, all the Androsyn billions were transformed into Orz litterally overnight.., waiting for the arrival of the head honcho himself.

Using these Orz ridding techniques taken from the Arilou, the Androsyn have perfected a powered suit, in which all Androsynth are cloned into. They use these suits to prevent them from being turned into Orz entities in Truespace. However, the Androsyn are very few.. and the cloning isn't going much faster either. Yes they still hate Humanity, as it was their fault that they were turned into Orz, if they were nicer to them before the Exodus (you get the picture, but by all means they still hate you.).

About this time, they made a new mechanical messiah, with all the knowledge of Orz, and the techniques to beating him. And HAL9000 eat your heart out! It's ICOM himself. Every Androsynth has an uplink to him, to exchange information, or just for your average company out there. Oh yes, he was the one to mastermind your simulation. The Androsynth put all of it together. (That's SC3..)

And oh boy they were surprised when they found out that you, Captain Zelnick managed to overthrow the Ur-Quan Hierarchy! So, they decided that they should place several plans in motion of capturing you. The Arilou, and ICOM, being wise in directing the future outcome of the universe and defeating Orz, (much to the hatred of the Androsynth, but who can tolerate you) set the plan of having a "super vision" in which the Arilou entered your chamber at night, and placed a vision that would happen directly after the Sa-Matra's destruction- all life dies screaming.

After your horrific vision, they sent their most heavily trained Androsynth assassin, to pick you up alive. You didn't feel a thing when you were shot, so it made you believe that when you were eventually hooked up to ICOM's mainframe you believed everything had just travelled normally. About this time, the Galacticus was leaving the Shipyards. ICOM needed this, so it ordered the Androsynth to take over the ship. It was too easy, and using (stolen Ilwrath vehicles? or something like that) took over the Galacticus. They didn't kill the humans onboard, of course, as the Arilou would get mad off their saucers. Immediatley the most advanced Terran ship in the history of the universe was now heading for Quasispace, and there it lay in the Quasi-Station of the Androsynth. Frequently they would leave the station, for materials for their Guardian craft. The Arilou wanted Zelnick UNHARMED, failiure to do so would be termination of the treaty, and the Synth would be kicked out. ICOM accepted this, but the Androsynth took some time getting used to it.. Before the simulation could begin, they needed detail on all of the other races, and some not known, so several probes searched the universe for slaveshielded races, unslaveshielded races, even bacteria which ended up on a moon in the Crateris constellation. Using these, ICOM had his opportunity to be creative, which is where "SC3" starts.

Androsynth "Smell" Controller suit. Every Androsyn is issued one. Prevents Orz contamination.
(concept not final, think I will change a lot, but it's eye candy nontheless, shows I'm serious on the mod Wink- but I think the helmet sucks. It's going to be changed big time. The suit looks ok though.)
Never get into a boarding match with these. An Orz marine is a close match, and a lot of marines died to get you out of this heavily armoured stronghold in particular.

Of course you meet this guy too..

(I've seen Krulle's reply.. but too tired Tongue will examine tommorrow.. Owa idea of a DF thing is really good though, and I think we can agree that Vyro-Ingo is ICOM's creative reflexes afloating. Androsynth is a draft, but you get the picture.)

Wow, sounds like the ICOM can become an evil controlling mind of the 'Synth.

Not really my idea.

But for the rest, sounds very good.

Makes an interesting challenge, that when during the game you find out that ICOm is playing double on the 'synth, you need to proove to the 'synths that ICOM is a tyrant, not a helpful PC....

Enjoy!

Sounds great to me. To bad there isn't a way you could also make it where you could turn bad and rule with your own Eternal Hierarchy they put things you can do against the rules but if you do them then you can't get stuff you need to beat the game. Pointless putting the option to kill the herald in the end huh...

Despite the rampant krypto-revisionism (which I fully agree with, mind, as I find SC3 to be about as related to SC2 as Highlander II: The Quickening was to the original Highlander movie), I like the plotlines described, though there are some logical holes:

- Zelnick may be tactically brilliant, but why would the Androsynth need him if they're getting assistance from the much-better-at-predicting-the-future Ariloulaleelay?

- Where does the Vindicator Mark II come into this? Tongue

- I've always thought that most of the ships from SC3 were absolutely worthless.  Poorly designed, annoying to talk to, play with and fight against.  Rather than reviving all (or even most) of the races from SC3 (come on, the galaxy is huge, but twice as many newly discovered races?), it would have been better to add just some of races to replace deceased ones (Ilwrath, Thraddash, et. al.), and give the existing ones a fresh coat of paint, in terms of deeper storylines, and upgraded technology.

There is rampant krypto-revisionism yes.. but I'm trying to lower the amount included. Mainly 3-4 races from SC3 may be included in the mod, as some races were actually very good concepts. The storyline just sucked.. so this is to fix that horrible storyline and make a true.. sequel, as you could say.

The Arilou don't care about anything as long as it doesn't include Hunams, and they wouldn't really share much knowledge with them anyway. The 'Synth think they have the Arilou in their grasp with Zelnick, while the Arilou think that the 'Synth are in their plans from what will happen next with Zelnick. It's a two way backstab. Turns out the Arilou knew it better when you got rescued. ICOM has other plans however..

Good point. Some of the races are great to talk to (the Doog and K'tang, oh yes can't forget the Daks Tongue) while some are just.. crap basically. Races such as the Vyro Ingo are so out.

I think I'm going to add more races. I'm going to host a new topic in the future listing new ideas for races that could make it in the mod.

As for other technology for other races, yes they have improved. The Humans get a big battleship which fires 2 yes 2 missles! (or spray missles would be nice..) All your going to know is that the Humans get a new battleship like it or not Wink Oh yes, and the Orz get a new battleship.. with some Roman god name (Nemesis, and others like it are based like this), and the massive rotation cannon does a heck of damage. These are but one of the things you will face Wink

Thanks for all your feedback!
