Ship matrix?
« on: November 26, 2005, 04:38:01 am »

Having seen some pretty cool stuff posted here (esp. the Hyperspace map), I'm wondering if anyone has created something along the lines of a ship matrix, showing which ships are strong and weak against which other ships.

I don't think so.. unless you mean the SC2 Videos which were done a while back with a voice over and highlighting it's special weaponry and normal weaponry. No details of what it's good against though  Wink

Of course there are text guides, they'll be all over the forum, as well as Leopards guide which can be found on the Pages of Now and Forever website:

I posted a similar question (for AI vs. AI) in the Favourite ship thread. Death 999 gave some replies (a bit down).

You'll find lots of melee tips threads on this board.  The thing is though, which ships are strong/weak against others is a very subjective thing, because it depends on the skills of the pilot you're going against, and so on.  Personally I believe most fights are quite winnable against the awesome AI, simply if you're good enough with whatever you're playing against.

If you're wondering, I think the Umgah really is the only ship in the game that's complete garbage.  But that's my opinion.  Beyond that there are a few "no-chance" combinations in the game.  But very few.

Posted below is the ultimate melee tactics thread on here:

I still have the spreadsheet, if you'd like to see it...

The first half is AI vs. AI. Seem fair? well, some ships are handled HORRIBLY by the AI, while others are half-decent.

In the second half of the spreadsheet are the records of my ability to beat the AI.

Done between two players, it would be a lot more reliable, but also take much much longer (that's why the first part of the spreadsheet is almost full, while the second part is almost empty)
