The Captain's wife???
« on: December 04, 2005, 01:46:40 am »

I still am a bit confused... Is the captain's wife Talana? Or is it some other funny Zoq-Fot-Pik girl? Or is it a hunam?

Yep, the captain apperantly has something for blue skin. Me, I tried to avoid getting a relation going with Talana, but I failed. Embarrassed (I was just trying to be polite, and you think I'm acting cute?! Roll Eyes Never try to understand an alien, kids. They're...well, alien.)

That would be true starting only after SC2 ends, of course.
Then again, who knows if in 2158 they still marry? maybe it's some kind of a symbiosive relationship or at most a mutual "understanding"..
you'd think religion would disappear by then.

Well, that happens when you let them go  with you when you're going to meet the Umgah ambassador. Selective gene modding to remove any sign of blue, isn't that a funny joke? Har har har! Grin

Nah, just kidding. But it is interesting. I would have expected a blueish skin at the least. Things aren't like Disney, in which if you have two different breeds of dogs do the reproductional stuff, you get one dog of the first breed and one of the other. You would expect a subbreed. (is this how you say that?)

Then again, who knows if he didn't do his stuff with a human at the same time. He is a hero, after all.  Cheesy People love heroes. (some are neutral and the bad guys hate them.)

It has been pointed out that Syreen and Humans may not be genetically compatible, despite outward appearance.  Talana and the Captain might have adopted (my "it all fits" idea is that they adopted some 'synth they saved from Orz), or Talana may have used a human donor egg.

In English it is called a crossbreed. For instance, a Tonkinese is a crossbreed of a Siamese and a Burmese cat.

Not true. It actually happens quite a bit that one offspring looks a lot like one parent and another looks like the other parent. The way physical traits get passed down is not homogeneous at all. Ever seen a Punnett square?

you'd think religion would disappear by then.

That will never happen. Religion will always be around in one form or another.
