Syreen troubles...

Alright, for the life of me, I can NOT get the Syreen to talk about the Mycon shells or shattered worlds. I've talked to them over and over, I've gotten the shell from their homeworld, I've met the Mycon personally, and the only dialogue choice left is "Goodbye, Commander Talana. I will be back." I need them to get pissed so they'll let me get their ships and blow the bejeezus out of the Mycon to get the Sun Device so I can free the Chmrr and BEAT THE FREAKIN' GAME!

...little help?

Hmm.. Maybe you've already talked to them, but accidently skipped the conversation.. If so..

SPOILERS!!!!

go to Epsilon Scorpii, and send the Mycon to Organon..
Oh, and maybe you need the ships... uuh.. Gamma Reticuli...

Oh!

Maybe you could take the egg fragments back to the Human Starbase (Hayes).. So they can analyze it and your CHARACTER knows what they are, so you can talk about it to the Syreen... Seems the best solution..

You definitely do not have to buy any info from the Melnorme to win the game. You can blow him away on first sight every time you meet,and still win, after all...

(edit: cut out a joke that didn't make sense anymore due to someone editing their post for clarity)

Buying the info from the Melnorme works, but I think you can also talk to the Mycon about it--after a point, they will tell you enough that you can tell the Syreen what the Mycon did.  Of course, since the Mycon can not resist the call of Juffo-Wup for more than 20 seconds, this means you have to take out a lot of Mycon ships.

You can go ask the Mycon about it at their homeworld after you obtain one of the egg fragments.  They'll give you a straight answer.  Of course, after that, they'll give you a fight, but that's to be expected.  A lot easier than buying it off the Melnorme though.

There are clues for everything scattered through the dialogue of the various races.  You need a hefty notepad...

Well, you don't really need to buy it. Just get a bunch of credits, go to a trader, and before you reach him, save the game. Buy all his info and write it down. Then go back to your last save, go to the trader and buy all the tech!

This is not entirely correct. Buying certain alien info gives you more than just text you can copy onto paper, Syreen shattered info being a prime example here.
Buying that particular piece of info sets the game variables KNOW_ABOUT_SHATTERED and KNOW_SYREEN_WORLD_SHATTERED which later allow you to talk to Talana about it.

As for the Syreen shattered world info, in addition to letting the Mycon ramble about it and buying info off of the Melnorme, you can ask the Arilou for info and they will tell you about it, and the Druuge will let you know about it incidentally and eventually.

Got the egg shell fragment, talked to the Syreen, next I went to the moon with the vault, and when I go back to the Syreen, the blue lady doesn't recognize who the crap I am, and all of a sudden has a memory lapse as if I never gave her the egg fragment or ever met, therefore messing up the entire game, any way around this major bug??? Or how to avoid it? I went back to past saved games, completed the quests exactly and yet same bug, syreen lady won't help me open the vault.

ok well my last prob was fixed when I went to get the egg thingy again, either it was reset or I forgot I was in a previous loaded game anyway another error I notice, after the explicit love scene with the blue momma, and after she tells the mycon plan I go to the mycon planet and after entering and exiting the dumb system 5 times finally mycon ships are in the system and I talk to them and no plan option exists
