Out of curiousity, has the Pack 4 project died?

There hasn't been an update for many months... last we heard, other things had come up and simply nobody had the time to continue.  It's kind of a shame, with only a couple of remixes remaining.

I can't speak for the others, but personally I'm busy with my day job and composing music for a commercial game project in the evenings. I just don't have the time or energy to work on UQM right now. Sooner or later though...

Just a note before you commit this latest music to CD: The word you want for the Shofixti is banzai not 'bonsai'. These words mean very different things. 'Bonsai' means 'potted plant' and is an artform where trees are pruned to remain very small and yet appear the same as larger (and old) trees. It makes beautiful gardens but I don't think that the Shofixti are gardeners (insert joke about the hobbies of Shofixti males without mates? Smiley ) and don't think they'd scream about their gardens while attacking the Ur-quan in any case. 'Banzai' on the other hand, is the (in)famous Japanese battle-cry. It means 'ten thousand years' and comes from a patriotic slogan 'may the emperor live ten thousand years'.

Bwahahaah, I think that's part of the joke.

Yes, it's a joke. Also note that one of the random Shofixti captains (in SuperMelee) is named "Bonsai!"

On a related note, as far as I can tell, "Kyabetsu", the name of the former Shofixti homeworld, means "cabbage".

Huh

Not a very clever joke.

You'll get scads of corrections like mine, but no laughs. It's just a stoopid mistake.

I am not sure if it is useful bringing this old thread back from the dead, but I find it more appealing than 100s of "when is the remix pack ready" threads.

Anyhow, I just wanted to note that I dug up all the remixes again and I am listening to the Spathi one now, I am still loving every little bit of SC music that I find.

I was curious as well as to how the remix pack is progressing (okay okay, that was a "when is the remix pack ready" response  Grin ).

Judging by the time that passed since the last track release, I think the appropriate answer would be, "when hell freezes over" Tongue

Considering that they have two left, it's not like they haven't done a lot, and good show of it!

Syreen and Yehat... I can't get a good feel of how to remix those in my head. If you torque up the angst for the Yehat, you lose its wistfulness and dedication. Doing a mix which focuses on the romantic yearning for the way things used to be before the surrender might  do the job. It's hard.

And syreen... umm. That's a tricky one too.

So I can see why it's been so long.

I was hoping you'd say three and include the PC intro as well. And hats off to the people of the remixing project. They have done a wonderful job on the remixes.

Now I am wondering if I can pack a provisional remix pack 4 together from the already released songs... Shouldn't be too hard.

But didn't they have intro music? Or were the PC and 3DO intros different?

The PC and 3DO intros are very different. In particular, they have different music, and neither tune has (to my knowledge) been remixed by the Precursors.

I agree, except for one.

And that is the remix of the Mycon.  The original song is 1000 times better than the remix.

If you compare the 2 you will hear that it are 2 completely different songs, and the melody i liked so much in the original is hard to find back.

Personally, I think the remix rythm is to fast, sound is to loud and it has to much ding dongs.

But that is my opinion.
