UQM will not start! 0.4.0

I downloaded the UQM v.0.4.0 from the website and installed it. I tried to run the program but a black MS-DOS screen flashed and then a Windows error saying it had "perfomed an illegal operation and will be shut dows" appeared. My computer froze after this.

I entered the following text into the "Target" field of the UQM.exe properties: --logfile logfile.txt --res 640x480 --bpp 32 --opengl --scale=bilinear --scroll 3do --audioquality high --addon remix

My computer no longer freezes when I try to run it, and I no loger receive the "Illegal Operation" notice, but the game will still not run. It still shows a black MS-DOS window for a second or two and then dissapears.  Angry

Any Suggestions? Thanks!

Try opening a command prompt (cmd.exe under Windows 2000/XP)
and run UQM from there. Maybe it'll display an error message.

yea i have the same problem except all mine does it come with the black dos box and sit there doin nothing til i exit out of it. im on windows me does anyone know what to do?

I hit Alt-Tab takes me back to windows... I then click the other urquan thing and play none stop till i finish the game Smiley I got most of the stars memorised now Smiley

smr6: two things I would suggest you try:
  • make sure your vide drivers are up-to-date
  • try a CVS snapshot

Sometimes the loader keeps being active (and does not automagically switch to the UQM-game) and thus sometimes some Windowsusers (like myself) need to Alt-Tab to the correct UQM to be able to play.

I think that´s what light meant.
