To those who are putting this game back together by means of some ancient Aztec ritual: dance faster. I'd be more than happy to help, but I have no programming knowledge whatsoever. With that said, I'd like really to know when the next version will be in place.

Uh-huh. Is there anyone that isn't suffering from extreme, 24-7 PMS out there that would like to say something regarding the patch/patch files/whatever crap I don't know about because I haven't explored every dark corner of the site and forums?

The official word about the release timetable from the dev team (whenever they have been asked) is "when it's ready"
Which I can understand: packaging software for release is a huge pain in the ass, and I would want to defer that pain until I was reasonably sure that I wouldn't have to do it again for a while.
However, I did see some conversations on IRC the other day about coming up with an actual featureset milestone for the next alpha release. So the wait might not be as long as you think.
In the interim, many people are creating their own "unofficial releases" and offering them to the public; the dev team has so far smiled upon this practice, because it means less work for them. Click the "search" link at the top of the page and sniff around for them, they should be fairly easy to find. Depending on the day, some "unofficial release" builds will be better than others. Caveat gamer.

Maybe Voiceover / Subtitle synchronization task could still use a helping hand. Ask phracturedblue
