Landers and Minerals
« on: December 17, 2002, 09:02:39 pm »

I had a quick question regarding landers and minerals. I notice that in this version, shooting mineral deposits with your lander gun destroys them (although alien lifeform data is immune). I don't remember this being in the original PC version, but I could be wrong. Can someone clear this up for me? Thanks.

Absolutely.  This is EXACTLY how it was in the PC version.  You always had to be careful when hunting Bios not to shoot precious minerals.  Nothing was more annoying than accidentally shooting a radioactive or worse an exotic.

What's different is not being able to shoot through earthquakes.  I don't remember that from the PC version, but maybe that's something they still need to work on for the alpha.

I can remember shooting some really valuable minerals and HATING myself for it.  Anything really big, like killing the last Shofixti, you can restart over - but this is big enough to upset while not being big enough to fix.  Always irked me  :-/

What also always annoyed me was accidentally picking up a huge mineral deposit (especially radioactives on Rainbow Worlds) when my lander capacity was filled up completely.

What I'd have liked is some way to leave a smaller mineral deposit behind container the remainder of what you didn't pick up. That or even a manual toggle that allows your lander to ignore minerals if you ran over a deposit that contained more minerals than your capacity.

You know what is annoying,  Kohr-Ah_Primat?  An individual who does nothing but bump 5-month-old threads, effectively turning the forum upside down.  Please stop replying to old threads, and find some newer ones to discuss the game with.

Yeah, really. Bumping old threads is hardly even a bad thing. The only person who was ever truely aggravating on this board was that prick NEMT. Speaking of which, did he get banned or something? I'm certainly not complaining, but it does seem a little odd that he disappeared suddenly.

Yeah, I miss NEMT. He even registered at sopme stage. maybe we just borde him? also, I like seeing the old threads again. It does speak for adding more subforums that a few bumbs can upset everything, but seeing as someone can think of replys to them, they can't really be considered dead, and therefore it's a good thing that they resurface.
