Cant extract movies from SC2 cd(3do)
« on: March 17, 2006, 06:46:42 pm »

Hey everyone, whats up? I am not a newb at all, i have made tons of .iso files, i usually use Magic ISO, but it wont create a iso file from my 3d0 starcontrol 2 cd, nor will nero or anything else i try. Can someone please tell me how to make an iso file from the 3do Starcontrol 2 cd? I read everything and were in the faq its says, "for more detailed info, click here", the link doesnt work. And ive read pages and pages in this forum with no success. Again, can anyone tell me what program to use in order to make a iso from the 3do starcontrol 2 cd. Thank you.

I cant get the two programs for extracting iso to work. Like i said, ive never not been able to get an iso file before, but nothing seems to want to read a 3DO disk. I have 2 drives, ones a DVD burner, the other is a regular dvd drive, nethier will work. My computer looks like this:

AMD FX-55 @ 2.9
ATI X1900XTX
2x512 OCZ Platinum Rev.2 @ 500 1:1
DFI Ultra-D @ 255 FSB
Etc.....etc....

So its not like i dont have the hardware to do what i want, can anyone help me to extract the videos from the 3D0 disk? By the way, i have 2 copies of Starcontrol and both are in great shape, anyone?

Could you be a little more specific as to what is going wrong? Which two programs are these, for starters? What error messages (if any) are you getting?

I know nothing about ripping CD's on Windows, but I can point you to an already ripped copy, or just the movies if you want. If you make an account here I'll send you a PM with the details.

These are 3DO copies? I'm interested. What do you want for one? Where are you located? Shipping cost can make a big difference.

just to give you a heads up, nothing can read a 3do cd and technically all new drives out there can rip them to iso, so try to rip it anyways if it seems like it's not reading it, if that doesn't work then it actually might be the type of drive that you have.

how much in great shape are they?
do you have a digicam so i could see them?
i would love to have extra copies, especially ones from other countries, sometimes games have different qualities in different countries.

and how about any 3DO systems, right now i'm looking for a few FZ-1's which are becoming increasingly harder to find at a reasonable price

The two programs are the ones in the link that was posted to help me,  one is CDr-WIN, the other CDr-Win. I have also tried all the programs i use, magic iso, nero, etc......Nothing works...lol. Second, i wouldnt mind selling one of my copies of Starcontrol 2 but i first want to get my issue resolved before i get involved with that. I would love a link or something to the movies like someone had said. I know its illegal, but what else can i do? I said i have two copies to illistriaght the fact that it isnt my disk, and i said i have 2 drives to show that nethier will read the disk. I build computers for people and i have all kinds of parts lying around. Im sure i have a few optical drives in a draw but is it worth installing them if my two best ones wont read ethier copies of Starcontrol. Also, to anyone interested in my copy, i bought my second copy like a year ago from some web site for 10 bucks.....ill see if i can find it if anyone want. So, back to the drawing board. How the hell does ANYONE extract the movies from the 3DO game? Nothing will read the disk, no program will make an iso, how was it ever done?

If you'd actually read the thread I linked to, you'd have found that the programs you mention cannot read 3DO CDs and you should use BlindWrite instead.

Im so frustriaghted right now......nothing i do will extract the files. It basically says that there arent any files or the cd image is corrupted or that its not supported by windows. Is there anyway you could send me the movie files? Ill prove to you that i have the actual 3DO game. Im thinking you need linx or something. I have Windows XP. If you can help me or point me in the right direction that would be great!!

3DO files do not contain an ISO 9660 filesystem. You need the unCD-ROM program to extract files.
Just open a command prompt, and run unCD-ROM from the directory containing the .iso file as "unCD-ROM sc2.iso". You may want to use an otherwise empty dir for this, as the program will create the files in the current directory.
