Check out anomalocaris, it's extinct since long (cambrian) but pretty impressive with some really nasty features like the 2 spiked graspers and camera shutter mouth. I have a fantastic rendering of it on my wall but I can't find that image anywhere online unfortunately.

Poor mouse.. They didn't even give it a chance.. :/
In real life, I'd guess the mouse would get a little bit of a chance of running away from the Ur-Quan...
About the shark video: remember, sharks need to keep moving, otherwise they'll suffocate, and when you turn a shark upside-down, it'll put itself into a passive mode...

Oh god. That poor little mouse. Say what you say, I think that was just cruel...
Imagine what you would fell like, if some giant threw you to an arena that had no escape and contained a giant snake...
And I really hate centipedes, damn they just give me shivers everytime I see one...
P.S I think the ur-quans were more like caterpillars than centipedes.

Depends. The mouse is too stupid to realise it's predicament.
Also, a human would be smart enough to avoid the mouth, avoid being constricted, and would probably go for the snakes eyes.
The lesson learned? Intelligence helps when facing a hopeless situation 
Also, the centipede has to eat something sometime. Doubt we could convince it to eat lettuce. Plus, that mouse was 99% likely to have been bred specifically for the purpose of feeding it.
Nature is indeed a harsh mistress. If you have sympathy for vermin that is.

99% chance to be fed...i dont believe mice/rats should be used to feed other animals but then a rat is my fav pet i had mine for two yrs and i lost my last one last tuesday O.o did you know a snake will eat over 1000 rats in its average lifetime? ever heard of the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few? i dont believe snakes should be kept in captivity every predator would rather hunt than be fed anyway

Think about the Supox. How many plants will a mouse kill/cripple/disembody in it's lifetime.
And who cares is a mouse is cuter then a carrot. Thats just superficial.

Rats and mice exist simply to breed and strip environs of vegetable matter. It's their niche in a wider ecosystem. Snakes and other predators exist to control vermin such as they. It's their place in the wider ecosystem.
Thousands of years ago mankind rose above the ecosystem. He took animals from that ecosystem and domesticated them. Such famous examples include dogs, cats and cattle. They were domesticated for practical purposes. Dogs for companionship and hunting, cats for companionship and vermin control. Cattle for food and resources.
Cats and dogs require meat and fish to live. Prior to domestication they were predators or solitary hunters and still carry that heritage. Would you say it's wrong to kill a single cow such that many dogs and cats might live?
Snakes and our friend the giant centipede also require meat to live. It's a fact of life, a predator will value it's existence over it's preys existence. A pet owner will value the life of the pet over the life of the animal killed to feed it.
You had a rat for a pet. Do you feel any sympathy for the countless plants it no doubt feasted upon for it's entire lifetime? I'd find it hard to believe it if you did.
Pets deserve sympathy. Food does not. Recognise the difference and you'll feel a lot better.

Yeah. I think it was mainly just the "cuteness" factor that made it feel so "wrong" in my eyes.
Maybe i'm just too sensitive... who knows...

OK, yeah, that second video is just wrong. What, if the centipede doesn't catch them fast enough for the camerman, they have to goad the mouse into its jaws? Come on, it's a predator, the mouse doesn't stand a chance and will get caught eventually. They could at least let it fight as long as its able.
Ah well, nature is cruel, people are cruel...
