Ur-Quan Questions
« on: May 20, 2006, 03:07:20 pm »

I thought it would be fun to try and write up some Star Control fiction, but since I committed my self to this, I have become obsessed with details. I don't really have a problem with this, but I can't seem to find some of the resources I had hoped to use, and some things really are just speculation, so I figured I'd bring my biggest questions here and see how they were answered.

First, Pages of Now and Forever used to have at least a large fraction of the dialogue from SC2 stored at their site. As far as I can tell this is no longer their, though it may be new computer/brower trouble. If any one knows where I could find an archive of conversations, preferably both PC and 3DO, but I'll settle for anything, please reply.

Then I've a few questions pertaining to the Ur-Quan.
I've never been able to decide weather the eyes and mouth you see when talking to the Ur-Quan are actually at the front of it's body and it is bend up to the camera to talk. That would be like here.
The other option would be that the eye's rest on the top of the head like a halibut (or wrap around the entire head and you only see some of them) and the mouth would be at the front, like here.

More to come in edits, but I have to go for now. Thanks

Yep, most of the Pages of Now and Forever's links are broken.
Anyway, the dialogue is stored in one of the data files that UQM installs - I can't remember which one now. To read it, change the file's extension from .uqm to .zip and unzip it. All the dialogue should be there, in standard text files (.txt).

All the conversations are still on ponaf you just have to mess with the urls to get to them.

instead of following the link to:
http://starcontrol.classicgaming.gamespy.com/starcontrol/sc2/quotes/slylandro.txt
go to:
http://starcontrol.classicgaming.gamespy.com/sc2/quotes/slylandro.txt

IE remove the "starcontrol/"
