Yeah I have always imagined them being placed in sockets like lightbulbs. Sort of like vacum tubes, but each one is a mini computer... an idea I used for another project of mine.
In my story one of these Probe Bulbs become 'sentient'... that's a rule to sci-fi, give anything enough time and it becomes a sentient species. In this case it was bound to happen due to the massive amount of replicated Probes.
Now I must draw this.
