How have you installed the game? It looks like the game can't find the content package.

It would be easier for us to help if you articulated your problem more clearly.

I'm going to make some wild guesses.

I think he's saying he has 0.4 installed, and he installed 0.5 over it.

The error message is one we'd expect if he didn't properly install the 0.5.0 content package (since starcon.lst doesn't exist in 0.4).

So he needs to do at least the "minimal install" for 0.5, not merely the "No Content" install.

Couldn't he just download the content packages for 0.5.0 and place them in the proper directory?

To do a basic install:  Download the installer.

Run it.

When it asks what packages to install, there will be a combo box marked something like "Typical".  That will work; you can also choose "minimal" if you don't want voiceovers.

It will then download the 0.5.0 content and do a complete install.  It's OK to not uninstall 0.4 first.

As the dialog box says, UQM requires the basic content package to run. Therefore, the installer tries to download it. If you cancel the download, the dialog you've shown us appears. At this stage, you can try selecting "Yes" to try downloading again.

If downloading doesn't seem to work, you should check that the installer can access the Internet. If you can download from SourceForge with a web browser without a proxy, the installer should also work. Do you have Internet access on the machine you are trying to install UQM on?

Sure. Try downloading the content package and then stick it in the installer's directory before running the installation. That should allow the installer to use the downloaded package instead of downloading it itself. See also the UQM technical FAQ.

Alternatively, if you have an installation of UQM 0.5 without the content package, you could try putting uqm-0.5.0-content.uqm in the directory content/packages in the UQM installation directory.
