Finally I had found a copy of Starcontrol 2 to download.
I was recently reminded of it by a friend online and couldn't find my cds, finding out the file was large for my crap connection I downloaded a resumer and set to with the download. Finally on the second day, around 8:30 pm EST the download finished much to my joy. I began the install and it froze... Not to be upset over something like that, I rebooted the computer and tried closing everything I could then began the install again. It got to a point where it came up with an error Uqm-0: GERT0.DLL. The file that was currently being displayed was one of the melnorme ones.

UQM-0 caused an invalid page fault in
module GERT0.DLL at 017f:1000df64.

The exact filename is melno013.ogg just incase some of you want that.

Would be great for some kind of reply, I've noticed quite a few people looking at the messages but no real reply on how to deal with it.
If there is anything else that might help...
my computer is a packard bell p3, 600mhz.
40 gig harddrive with most stuff being onboard, eg sound and video.
383 meg of SDRAM. OS of Windows 98, some packard bell version with all their crap on it.

Well, I'll reply... HELLO!  and welcome, and all that.

The installation worked fine for me... but then I didn't use a "resumer".  I take it that's a utility that will let you pick up the d/l where you left off after turning off your computer?

The fact that you used a resumer might have corrupted that file somehow.  Just speculation on my part, of course, but it is possible.

This would ruin my life to no end, as I connect usually, at 24000.
If anyone bumps or jostles the phone line my connection is toast. The need of a program to continue downloads of this size are a must.
Unless of course someone would be kind enough to burn it to cd and ship it off to me? Tongue
I wish I could find my original copy of it. I had the 2 pack of Starcon1&2 on a cd set and now I can't find it.
Wasn't there a Starcon 4?

No point burning it onto CD until they have a final release...

As for Star Control 4, yes there was one planned at one time but thankfully they cancelled it before Accolade messed up Star Control even more...

Hmm, this could indeed save me, however, if it cancels on that one file, I'll need to get whatever is missing right? any idea what all comes after that file?

I put on my mask of celebration, much as my companions the utwig do.
My earlier download of the one file has corrected much and I forgot the nature of the installer/unpacker.
    It hit me earlier today...
                 and it hurt, I realized that it would probably accept to overwrite what was existing in the folder already so I gave it a shot.
It continued from the one melnorme file that I had to replace.
MUCH REJOICING
and thank you all for you kind effort.
