Have just finished the game...
« on: December 17, 2002, 11:34:28 pm »

I compiled the 0.17 version, it is much better then the first. keep up the good work.
as for my opinion the game is currently fully-playable besides minor matters that i currently remember:

sometimes after a sentence ends, the next one over-riding the older and not removing it.

the syreen gets frozen at some dialogs, such as some other races(rare)

the yehat conversation screen graphic has it's problems.

u may increase the alien window while at conversation. sometimes the subtitiles are too bottom, or the fonts are too big.

this is it! great to play this game again!

gl with your further work.

Ya, I had an instance where if you skip through the Orz opening bit, "this is the universal translater blah blah blah" the game would just freeze.

It'd be greate if the text were synched with the voices.  Or even had the same text as what the voices are saying, at times.  And if you could skip one page/line at a time instead of having it be all or nothing.  But I guess that's what later versions are for.  Wink

Oddly enough, OpenGL mode now causes my SC2 to go slowly.  If I go into regular software mode, then OpenGL, it works at normal speed.  But just starting in OpenGL makes everything run at about 1/4th speed.  I haven't updated any drivers or ... well, done anything, really.  I'm trying to track it down to being something local to my system since just having SC2 randomly mess up seems... I dunno, I'd think something had to have caused it.

Actually, you can skip one page at a time.  Use the right arrow key to skip one page forward in dialog.  You can also use the left arrow key to have the last dialog response repeated.

Yes, but then the voice stops, which I think is what he was referring to.  It would be nice if skipping forward a page caused the audio to skip forward as well, or at least didn't cause it to stop.

On the other hand, if the audio has been disabled (eg, by skipping forward a page), it would be nice if the text didn't advance automatically -- most people will be able to read the text before it vanishes, but there's a good chance that it will skip forward on its own just as they press the "forward" button, resulting in two advances.  (think of it as a race condition Smiley )
