Cannot dispatch ships to planet surfaces.

Like the title says, I cannot seem to dispatch ships to planets to collect minerals and explore. I used to be able to do this, before I visited the ship orbiting Earth. What could the problem be?

Most probably, your planet lander was destroyed last time you landed, leaving you without a lander.

Can I buy one from the ship orbiting the Earth or do I have to go elsewhere? I tried buying one from the ship before but could not find where to buy it.

Yes, you can buy them at the station around Earth. It's 500 RU for one, if I'm correct. You can buy them only if you press Enter on one of the blue squares inbetween the two displays of your ship at the Outfit Starship screen.

Although, if you haven't  "activated" the starbase yet (given them the radioactive), the commander will give you one new lander for free.
