new map scan
« on: July 17, 2006, 05:48:17 am »

Hello all,
I have scanned in the white scII map, such as this one:  http://starcontrol.classicgaming.gamespy.com/collecting/images/collect0011.jpg

anyone have a place I could upload it?  I curently have a photobucket copy uploaded... but im limited to 1meg of size there... which really doesn't satisfy me for a printable copy.  Have a look see, tell me what you think, any help would be appreciated.  --Star Controller

The pic is located at:

Imageshack gives you 1.5MB. If it's a lot bigger than that, then use Rapidshare.

Hi-res?  Sure, that would be awesome.  There's a ton of people who would have a use for it.  It's not everyday that someone makes an update to a map, or makes an incredibly clear one.

You could contact Scott or Chad over at Star-control.com and ask if they can host it on the site.

here's the link.  That's the full size file, about 2.3 MB.

I did contact chad and scott about hosting the map, no word as of yet.  Hope y'all enjoy it.

Thats a beautiful map! Very clear, and containing all the appropriate information.

Have you ever considered making a coloured version? Like just the star colours? Would be a lot of tedious work, but useful.

Of course, this clear, white map is better for printing than mine is.

Bummer! It's not there any more. Does anyone else have this, and couild repost it?

I was playing this game on a 386, when it first came out. The white map is a must for anyone wanting to really get down to bidness. Many thanks in advance!

At the least, looks like the photobucket version still lives

I advise against using that one, as it contains spoilers. I would suggest the colour HyperSpace starmap. This one, and others, can be found at the PNF.

Any chance of a spoiler-free version for inclusion with UQM as was discussed back then?

There's a starmap generator in SVN, created by fOSSiL, which creates very pretty starmaps from description files containing the star and constellation data.
One of the maps generated by this program will probably be included with the next release of UQM.
