Ooh! Those are a few I forgot. I've played Tyrian all the way through God-knows-how-many times. I was also a big fan of Ultima Underworld II--Never played the first, but I loved the second.

Ahh... to play Darksun again... that would be nice, but i lost my cd.
Civilization was easily the BEST game ever made, it came on my comp some 11 years ago, i play it to this day, I tried to find a newer copy but all i found was Civnet and without music it just wasnt the same (or was there ever music?) Colonization was another great game, not the same power as civ tho. I used to spend hours on end playing Commander Keen, they were addictive to say the least.

This is great, you people made me remember all those classics...
Quest for Glory remake, I liked it, as said before, because you didnt need to know the "magic" word to get things done. Fun at the time...
Star Flight, Star Control 1 + 2, classics Sucks that both Master of Orion3 and Starcon3 had to be taken over by a new developer, and botched (sigh)
Archon (c64), simple, with great replay value
Bruce Lee (C64) im COMPLETELY surprised someone else had this game...i thought it was some weirdass bootleg game I dont even know what the monsters were supposed to be
Scorched Earth - a few of those simple shareware games never cease to amaze me
Warcraft - no comment needed, obviously 2 was much improved, but the original was great for its time
Rise of the Triad - I dunno if I'd consider this one of the best games, but it sure was fun watching a guy begging for his life on hands and knees, then blasting him
Joust and Impossible Mission - Two more great c64 classics, how funny was it listening to your guy fall in a pit in Impossible Mission??
Summer and Winter games - glad someone mentioned these, forgot all about them somehow
I saw someone mention Soulblazer, I thought that was one of the WORST RPG's ive ever played...
hmmmm......gotta sit down and think of some of my own fav's, sorry to leech off the rest of you, but those are some damn good games

Soulblazer was fun and all, but... better than Zelda? Are you MAD?

I've only seen X-wing mentioned twice. This game was awesome! A friend at work mentioned it yesterday and I just went apeshit. I've forgotten how much I enjoyed that game. I beat it with a mouse. The graphics were, by today's standards, canned crap, but man I loved it.

System Shock 1 is imho one of the best games ever made. And far better thean the sequel. There has been a cd version with SVGA support as "talkie" edition.
Oh, and Reunion is also cool. Has some kind of old-school strategy game flair

Agreed. The game was pathetic in that it was way too easy to retreat. Of course, Zelda 3 had this problem once you got the mirror ... ::cough cough::, but really, pretty much the only thing that could go wrong was that you'd lose your crystal collection. Infinite free healing can ruin a game.
Aside from that - playing with challenges like "Never retreat except when you've exhausted the possibilities" makes the game a little more fun, but it's a lot of effort. Unlike, say, in most games (like, say, SC2), where you can actually get blown up and the game ends.

I remember a game I used to play when I was a wee lad on my Dad's Tandy1000: Burgertime!
Oh and Deathtrack and Stunts on my 386 were cool as well
