For FPS's, I'd say give F.E.A.R. a try. If not that, try UT2004 instead. For pure mayhem potential, I'd go with GTA:SA. For TBS's Civ 4 and GalCiv2 are good picks.
I might think of more later...

I like Heroes V!
I can't say much about IV, because when I played it I stacked 50 black dragons and then when I was about to attack I had this strong sense of Deja Vu, and I said to myself "Hey, didn't I do that before" and that's when it occurred to me that yes. I have been doing the very save thing since Heroes I...
Although from what I heard the game sucked anyway.
But the point is - this doesn't happen in Heroes V. The other units no longer become obsolete when you get your level 7 units. The units are all pretty well balanced and almost every unit has some kind of special power.
Also I really like the campaign, the story is interesting and fun, and the characters are good. In fact that's also my problem with the campaign - the elves are the snobbish stupid tree shuggers sissies we all know they are, and so I REALLY HATE MY HERO in the elves missions. This is why I currently can't bring myself to finish the last of the elves missions. I mean, by Primus, the only reason Findon have survives this far is because the annoying mission objective "Findon must survive".
Anyway - great game!
