If the ZFP have new info for you, that is a Bad ThingTM. It indicates that you are going to have a very genocidal problem in the near future. So, no news is good news.

Umm.. Can you "save" the ZFP? What do you have to do, kill some KorAh?

SPOILERish since we've been discussing it all throught the thread.

When theCommander tells you that they've recieved a ZFP distres signal, travel to their homeworld. You'll find a lone Kohr-ah ship there. Blast it, and all is well again.

When the Zot-Fot-Pik ask for assistance, they need it.  They're not in the habit of using such extreme words, as the Pik emmisary points out.

The Kohr-Ah are flawed.  They must die.
If you follow the Kohr-Ah, you should make whatever final preparations are preferential to your species.  You have three of your "minute" time intervals to do so.

Yeah, it was easy to destroy.  I killed it with my one Spathi Eluder.

Spathi Eluders are actually quite good ships, they're just piloted by cowards Smiley

So I take it this is an event where time matters and I can't go mining for a year or so and expect them to survive? For some reason I thought the ZFP distress was simply to tip off their location before you even met the ZFP. Perhaps I'm confusing this with somthing else..

There are two signals from the ZFP. First the commander tells you about transmissions from the Rigel star system, where you meet them for the first time. They then give you the location of their homeworld. A while after you've been to their homeworld and become allies, they send off an distress signal. Time does matter here, I think you have around three months to go save them or they'll be wiped out.

Do remember to go packing - there may only be one Kohr-Ah around their homeworld, but there will still be a tone of them and their Ur-Quan cousins around Zot-Fot-Pik space.

Agreed, though I find that killing most ships with the Eluder to be too time-consuming to be worthwhile once you have stronger ships available to you.

You can take down nearly anything with an Eluder, but sometimes its a very long battle.  Maybe I'm just too impatient. Smiley

I am not a fan of running.  It wastes fuel and if it is a fight you can win, then it also wastes the RU you could be making off salvage.  Waste, waste, waste.

Except that a slow moving ship close to the ZFP homeworld will actually get stuck. Enough HS contacts will be generated all the time to keep you falling into a new one before you have a chance to move at all. So while you may win every fight, you'll be stuck in the same spot figting until the Sa-Matra rolls around. And seeing as time only passes for the split second you are in HS before being dragged down again, that will be a very long time.

But go ahead, fight on ye mighty and brave. Waste not, and doom the universe.

Also, practice enough and their little ship won't sting anymore, it'll MAIM.
Hmm....maybe. But it is kind of nice to see my little collection of ships all around me--one Earthling Cruiser, five Spathi ships (I stocked up before they slave-shielded themselves), and now the four ZFP ships.

Forgive my rudeness for reviving an old topic, but a question has occurred to me.

What did you do to the 4 pkunk ship's? Don't know if you know it, but they are the most effective ships against the big toy of the ur-quan.

I hope for you that you have at least saved one of them, if not, you will have a hard time against it, and you may have to begin all over  Grin. Of course you can make the big ur-quan toy vulnerable with other ships, but it will take a lot more effort.
