Star Control Lives!

It would be so cool if there were a StarCon Con, as you put it. Unfortunately, I'm in Canada, and I need to save money for education and other things, so I wouldn't be able to travel.
But a StarCon con would be awesome if there was a large community of people in one city who play Star Control. That would show Alex how much we cared.
If Star Controllers started to show up to existing Sci-fi conventions, that would help put our foot in the door...

Okay, I voted again
That doesn't mean that I will go out my my province; just as far as any of the nearby cities.

A Starcon con would be great, but I don't know about flying halfway around the world for it... If it was in the US or Canada, I could probably spring for it, though. Any farther than that, though, and I can't really afford the $1000+ airline tickets.

It could be tacked on (ie get a booth) at the Fan Expo in Toronto (August 2007). This event combines video games, anime, card games like Magic and Yu-Gi-Oh, Trek and Star Wars geeks, the whole lot. This is definitely the place to show off Star Control! In fact, they have Video Games Live going on at the same time, where they play video game music in a symphony orchestra. Wouldn't that be incredible to have them do Star Control music?*
Hmm... wonder what one of those booths would cost...
There are similar events in Montreal, and probably in Vancouver and other major cities. But I think more of us are closer to Toronto. Besides, as an IGDA Toronto guy, I tend to promote Toronto for all things video game.
* Incidently, I've already asked here and via email to Tommy Tallerico, but so far no reponse.

Only if it's within my country(United States), and that's a big "if".
I'm likely not to spend money on something like airline tickets to a convention, so it would have to be around the Atlanta, GA area. That way, I don't have to pay nearly as much just to get there. (It'll probably make things worse for the rest of you, though...)
I should also learn how to make plushies so that all attendees can carry home their own little Fwiffo...

It could be tacked on (ie get a booth) at the Fan Expo in Toronto (August 2007). As an added bonus, Toronto's weather is quite pleasant in August.
In fact, they have Video Games Live going on at the same time, where they play video game music in a symphony orchestra. Wouldn't that be incredible to have them do Star Control music?* Dude, when I read that, I suddenly got an image of a guy with a bass-guitar starting to play the opening riff of the Ilwrath theme (with cheering fans), and someone on synth and drums for the rest, although violins or some other stringed intrument (combined with percussion) might be a good replacement for the synthesizer. Then I started thinking about the Ur-Quan. Full Orchestral arrangement, complete with trombones, gong and timpani for the first few notes. How cool would it be to get the band that the Androsynth spoof to play the androsynth song though... Any musician worth his salt would find playing the Spathi theme to be interesting, and the haunting Utwig theme would be great with string bass, violas, and a (contra)bass/alto flute.

SC2 music live? I'd probably attend just for the HyperSpace theme alone! (That one piece is probably the catchiest piece of game music EVER...)
I am quite infuriated that VGL has no plans to come to Atlanta, GA, though...I'm still not buying expensive plane tickets for this sort of thing!
