Are there any plans to GPL the content? I figure that if the content is GPLed, UQM will be in an easier-to-reach repository in many distros. Besides, perhaps UQM will even come preinstalled on some distributions if the entire project is open source. That would yield many more users.
GPL is not a suitable license for images and sound. And TFB do not want to have the content used for commercial purposes. We haven't drawn much attention to it, but since 0.6.0 the content is licensed under a new license. The license text used to say "The content may also be copied freely as part of a distribution of The Ur-Quan Masters.", but since 0.6.0 the content is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.5 license, but there's still "The content may also be copied freely as part of a distribution of The Ur-Quan Masters.".

Well, it doesn't meet the OSD, so it will only be included in the commercial section of distributions. But I must admit that it is perfectly reasonable to restrict commercial use of the content.
